View Full Version : I fired my Merc for the first time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am happy like a proud papa! The wife helped me fire up the nailhead a few minutes ago. Man, nothing sounds sweeter than a big ol' motor firing up through open headers!! It sounds really good. It has about 30 psi oil pressure at startup. Is that good or what? Man, I am jazzed. I hope to have it ready for Ft. Smith!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Rad!
Is your engine new? What weight earl are you runnin'?
Rob, It's "recently rebuilt". A buddy of mine rebuilt it a few years before I bought the Riv it was in. I'm using 30W. BTW Tammy's got a bun in the oven! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Theres something about firing an engine for the first time. Even if it ran in another car it's not the same until it's in it's NEW home. Sure does give you a warm fuzy feeling doesn't it?

My "'hood" can't say shit about it. I've put up with 10 yrs of Tupac at 150+ db's. I'm going to try to make it move tonight.

NICE. Congratulations. You've got quite a few years into this car right?
Grimlok, I've owned this car since I was about 17. I'm going on 32 now! I'd say I have some sweat equity in her.
That's great news, Jason...tell Tammy I said hello!

Now if you can keep it running and not take it apart when you get bored you will be doing better... the gang thought it might be a good idea to buy you some legos once you get the Merc back in one "runnin" piece so that you have something new to put back together. Well what the hell do I know?
