Excuse me if this has been posted before, but I've been using this method of saving my favorite HAMB threads to my hard disk. It allows me to view my favorite HAMB posts and threads without getting on the internet. It helps when my hands are greasy and I just need some info I saw on the HAMB, and its also a way to start your own HAMB library like the Tech Section.

1. Log on to the HAMB and go to the thread you want to save.
2. Click "Show all", and the entire thread will be listed without separate pages.
3. On the "File" menu of your browser, there will be a "Save" or "Save As..." option. Choose that.
4. Find a place on your hard drive where you want to save all this HAMB goodness, and the browser will download and format the entire thread to your hard drive.
5. The title of the thread will be saved to a .htm file. For a thread titled "Whine Whine Whine", the .htm will be titled "The Jalopy Journal Whine Whine Whine.htm"
6. If you open this .htm file, the thread will be opened in a browser, and all the info the browser needs will be on your hard disk and you won't have to get on-line to view your favorite HAMB rants and/or tech info.

Just remember that the entire thread gets downloaded to your hard drive. This can take a while on dial up connections.

Mike,

Good advice. I find it even easier to save old threads as .mht web archive files. These files contain the complete webpage (pictures & all) in one single file. I find that keeps them from getting confusing & cluttered.

They're easy to save in Internet Explorer.
1. Click FILE > SAVE AS

2. In the field labelled "SAVE AS TYPE" select "WEB ARCHIVE, SINGLE FILE (.MHT)"

3. In the field labelled "FILE NAME" type in a description of the thread (ie, "TOKYO MAKES AN ASS OF HIMSELF")

4. Click "SAVE"

<font color="green"> Good tip! Thanks.

OK Quick question for the PC savvy types. I use IE as my browser. When I got my DSL upgraded it came with Yahoo browser. I don't like it but it has set itself as the default browser and I don't know how to fix it. Any help?

Thanks,

Neppy - Click on start, click on Set Program Access and Defaults. That window will allow you to choose your browser. Click on custom, and the arrow for choice of default programs. This is for windows XP.

Neppy,

If you load up Internet Explorer, it should pop up a window saying something like, "Internet Explorer has detected that it is not your default browser". Click yes to make it your default browser.

Is that doesn't work:

1. Open IE
2. Click TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS.
3. Select the PROGRAMS tab.
4. At the bottom of the window, select the checkbox "INTERNET EXPLORER SHOULD CHECK WHETHER IT IS THE DEFAULT BROWSER"
5. Click OK
6. Close IE and reload. When IE starts up again, you should see the pop up window mentioned above.
