I was introducing a friend to a guy that lives near me, but I coudlnt remember where his driveway was so we walked across a 15 ft waterway to get there, came up behind his garage and I saw these wheels half buried in the ground with trees growing through the slots, bought em for $50 and really dont know what they are, or what I'll do with em but they looked cool enough. Was told they were magnesium, also told aluminum not sure how to tell the difference. the center is either alum or magnes the wheel itself is steel the previous owner thinks he still has the center caps and said he'd look for them but if he couldnt find them he'd reimburse me some, still sounds like a deal to me.
Know what they are or who they're made by? My guess is torq thrusts but he thought they were early 60s. 14x6 ford bolt pattern.

Looks like a knock off of an American Spoke mag from the 60's or 70's

It's pretty hard to say what you may have there. Dozens of companies made look-alike wheels back in the '60s. I can't quite tell for sure, but it appears that the spokes have a rounded shape. That would indicate early to mid '60s, as there was a general move toward spokes that were more "peaked" at their center in the later '60s and early 70's. Many of the manufacturers sold thier "old style" wheels to discount or chain stores (Sears, Wards, Western Auto, etc.), to get rid of their inventory when the style changed, so the "round spoke" ones were around for several years thereafter.

Very few, if any, of the two piece (steel rim, alloy centers) wheels used magnesium. It's virtually a certain bet your centers are aluminum. Also, I'm not too sure American made any two peice wheels. I think most of theirs were all-alloy.

In any case, for $50 you got a real good deal. If you got rid of the rust, I expect you could double your money easily at a local swap meet (I live over in Nebraska, so have a pretty fair idea of prices in your area).

What part of Iowa do you live in? There's a great swap meet in Greenfield (about halfway between the NE border and Des Moines) every year. That might be a good place to unload them - if you're looking to do that.

Take care -

I'd call them Fentons, only because the lug area where the spokes meet is pretty shallow... seems like i've seen Fentons like that before. Cool wheels, I like them alot...

Thanks for the response guys, I cleaned them up alot from when I got them just to pass the time, was going to sell them but now I'm not sure. I want to run steelies and WW on the roadster but these might be neat as a secondary set, decisions,decisions..
Stan I live about 30 minutes SE of Des Moines little town called Tracy but I get to Omaha occasionally, went to the T-bucket nats there a few weeks ago.
