BENT FISH

This is my intro all. Bent-Fish here, lesser know as Steven Brown from po'dunk Polk City FL. I'm new to this scene so I don't know any names of old skool masters or anything. I've just always done things old school and prefered em that way. Thaought I was pretty much alone here, but I didn't do much lookin either. Saw the "rat rod" Rides episode (don't care for the name of that, but hey it got my attention) and started looking around. Really lookin for some true old schoolers in my neck of the woods to join up with and learn a thing or three from.

Sportin an '81 VW Vanogon, premo condition (surfin fool). Not exactly a vintage ride, but cool as hell. Workin on a 54' chevy 4dr 210. I've suicided all 4doors, ridin the orig 235 6banger w/2spd auto, but lookin to slam it low and cut as much outta the roof as God will allow. Never cut into anything that extensive so I'm a bit lost. Love to find some tru old schoolers around to help me with the know how. Want to beef up the powerplant and introduce a stick to the ole girl too.

Welcome, you are just North of Auburndale off I-4. Right between Orlando and Tampa, so you are going to have to tease yourself about not working on your car.
Could you explain your name? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Picked up the name about 10 yrs ago from a pal who, after a nice night out at the strip club with some milk and cookies, looked at me in a drunken stuper and slurred "dude...you are one bent fish..." at least that's what it sounded like at the time. After that I was at the Surf Expo in Orlando and found a sticker that said Bent-Fish on it with, what else, a bent fish on it so the name stuck.

Welcome Steven. There's alot of like-minded folks around in Central Fl. You'll just have to drive a little ways in each direction to find them. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I think there are a couple of guys in the Winter Haven area.
