went up to Levi's Classic's secret junk yard with this "old timer" friend of mine, Dave Crowner yesterday. actually the adventure began saturday when i was up till midnight finishing the doors on Brett's (Levis Classic) model A chop i just did. got up around 6am sunday, loaded the car, filled up with gas, headed for Dave's, relized i forgot the directions at home, turned around, got the directions, THEN went and picked up Dave and we were FINALY on our way.

3 hours or so into the trip we realize there is a good possibility we missed our exit, so i stop and call Brett from a pay phone. seems he told us the exit was NORTH of Cadillac when in fact it was SOUTH of Cadillac. so we passed it before we even started to look for it.

so, we eventually find our way to 'Casa DeGordie' were Brett is anxiously awaiting the return of his baby.

long story short. we BS at his place a while, nload the car, remove the body, reload the frame (gonna help him out and weld some stuff on his chassis cause his welder SUCKS. to put it nicely http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif.), load our fat asses in Brett's truk and head to his secret storage unit full of old parts (he even made us wear blind folds!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif). you've all likely seen pics of his PACKED storage unit before so i'll spare you the pics, but take my word for it, it is OVERWHELMING the amount of stuff he has in there. i was rooting through some crates and found several parts to which Brett replied "i've never seen THAT before!!". some peoples kids!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif...

after that we headed back to his place with a quick stop on the side of the road where we snagged this GREAT lookin old fridge that had a sign on it that said "FREE, it works". it is the PERFECT size for the gargage and will look killer when i talk MikeO into painting it up kustom for me http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif...

so we take both trucks up to the yard. park my old Chev with the trailer by the road and load into Brett's 4x4 for a "quick" run around through the yard. i was about to climb out the window a hundred times as we'd drive past a group of old cars sitting here and there amongst the later model cars and just plain JUNK of EVERY description. finaly i could'nt take it anymore and junmped out of the truck. i'm not even sure if it was stopped yet http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif...

we walked and drove all over this HUGE yard for FIVE HOURS!!. thats when, as we were BS'n with the proprieter of the yard, i looked at my watch and noticed it was 9pm!! i have to get up for work at 4:30am and it was a FOUR HOUR DRIVE HOME!!! needless to say i am one tired puppy today. my plan for the evening is to show off all the goodies we scored/saw/and are saving for the next trip, eat some dinner and go to bed early..

so without further blabering from me.....

Mike,

Glad to see you and Dave made it home alright! Do you have any adult beverages in that fridge yet?

It was hilarious watching Mike and Dave in the secret bone yard! Dave kept saying "this is the most fun I've had in a long time" and that man has seen and buit some cool stuff in his 73 years of rodding and racing.

Next time you come up Mike we'll fill the truck full of Kustom stuff for that secret finned Stude truck build we dreamed up!

SUNBEAM IMP!! HA HA, you were so wrong!!!! thats ok none of the three of us knew what it was till we found the emblems http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif...

Brett. i am sooo stoked about our top secret joint venture http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif. i found pics of that other cab that Bob said was nicer. it is MUCH nicer. you should see how much more it would be for the better cab. if you ask about the Desoto fins tell him we want it from the rear of the doors all the way back, trunk lid and all. he he he, it will be so cool.. in a hundred years when we have our other stuff done and have time to work on it http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. i think that Buick dash from the hacked up convert would be the shit in our little beast.

gotta run. time to get some shut eye....

ok, round TWO!!! this one is for you MikeO. Dodge sedan turned FARM truck!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif but i have some BITCHIN ideas for it. check out the cool details on the body. dual cowl vents and a cool body reveal in the middle of the cowl. it has a glove box on each end of the dash and hole for squarish gauges in between...

ok sorry for the delay. i had to go mow the yard, and my yard is HUGE. plus i had to push a couple cars around and mow under them... why is it when you park a car in the yard the grass is dead in about half a day but if you park a car in the driveway for more than a day the grass grows UNDER and around it at 4 times the rate the yard grows at???
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

anyway, back to the junk yard pics...

check out the CHROME grill on this GMC. not sure i ever saw one of the Jimmys with chrome on the grill before...

there were ATLEAST 4 Nailheads in this pile of motors and a bunch more throughout the yard. most were the smaller pre 401s. there were also a TON of flathead Fords but did'nt see a single Merc flathead http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif...

anyone need a truck cab for a ButtReynolds style rod project?? there were alot of decent cabs layin here and there of all makes. i think this one is a Stude cause of the bent windshield glass. i think the reason most of these cabs were so decent is becuase most were off big trucks. there are ALOT of big trucks in this yard. in fact the guy is a REO nut and there must be at least a hundred big REO trucks and a few Diamond Ts...

What do the bakc edge of those front fenders look like on the R series trucks. (I'm in need of both sides if they're not full of holes and cheap.)

Looing for a rear valance, differential drive shafts, these are the main items I need right now.

There is a place in Newzealand called Impwerks that I can order these items from , but just trying to locate someting stateside to save on shipping.

This one is about 2 hours away from me and would make it convienent if someone directs me to it.
