i have a battery that i been charging with my 1 amp mosickle charger for over 24 hours now.it's just barely at 12 volts.it was sitting for about 2-3 months without the car being driven,is it fucked,or does my charger not have enough amperage? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif thanks-george

A trickle charger does better at KEEPING a battery charged than it does at charging it back up once it's gotten a bit low.

I used to park one of my old cars all winter with a trunk mounted battery and never touch it. Come spring, it'd fire right up. A good battery shouldn't discharge much at all just from sitting, unless there is some sort of load on it, or something (even moisture) connecting the terminals, which can create a very slight draw.

Try charging it with a charger made to bring up automotive batteries. Probably be able to save it.

I have a automatic trickle charger that I bought for my motorcycle and I have used it to charge up my car battery. I think it says its OK for cars right on it. But about a month ago I used it on my truck battery and even though the charger said it was done (green light) the battery had no cranking power. I got the battery tested at autoparts place and it was shot.

Just take your batt. to kragen or pep boys or one of thsoe shitty chain stores. They have a battery checker and charger there and it is free. I do it all the time. But usually the kid workin dosen't know how to use the tools and you gotta do it yourself.

I thought it was ok to charge modern batteries on the concrete. Something about how the case is made of a better material now.
