Do a search - lots of T5 info in the archives here.

The late Mustang boxes can handle a fair amount of power. The S10 box is what most use for shifter location. You can put the S10 tail housing & top cover on the Mustang box.

For details on what the Mustang box will handle, check out some of the late-model Mustang websites like www.corral.net (http://www.corral.net) or www.saleen.com (http://www.saleen.com)

I'd sell you mine, but the shipping would kill you...
I had it in a '63 Falcon.
I had to mod the tunnel, other than that I dont remember it being that different than the 4speed it replaced ( exept for the adaptor plate I had made to make it fit a 260 )

The mounts are real close. I put a C4 in a drag mustang years ago that had a T-5 and (IIRC) I just had to grind the spot welds off of the cross member's side pieces and slide it an inch or so. (The crossmember was a stamped piece tack welded to two small pieces of tubing, where the tubing attached was where I ground the welds off and slid the crossmember.) I can't remember now of I slid it forward or back, but it wasn't more than an inch or so.

that sounds promising (what 4 speed) and anyone know how similar that is to a C4 (got a celica box lying around with a bell housing but that didn't handle the power of a standard s/b chev)

that sounds pretty sweet so in theory if i make the mount with a 2inch slot to mounnt the bolts it should work wish you new which way cheers

(what 4 speed)

That poor car has had the 6Cyl auto it came with new,
then a 4speed O/D out of a Granada,
then a T10 out of a Falcon Sprint,
then a Toploader out of a Mustang,
then the T5 out of a late model Mustang,
and now it has a C4...

how did the holes line up when you swapped it back to the c4 ?

The X member was so butchered up from all the swaps that I made a new one.

What dimensions do you need. I've got one on the chassis table back at home.

From recent requests, I remember that the shifter is 14 inches from the front face of the transmission case.

FWIW, mine's for sale too.

main measurement i need is from the front of the bellhousing to where it mounts and can you tell me how far back the shifter is from front of bellhousing

Hey,

Have you considered a Supra box or Celica? Cheeper and readily available in NZ and Oz. Will set you back about $300.

Depending on the leverl of abuse, a "World Class" T-5 might last a long time. On the other hand, the Mustang drag racers manage to get amazing performance using this trans, but not without carnage.

The Tremec 5 speed is significantly more expensive, but more likely to survive a 600 hp motor.

It seems a shame to spend the money to build a 600 hp motor, and connect it to a transmission that it will almost certainly fail (eventually).

i do like the tremac boxes - its the shipping that kills it for me so i'm gonna start with the t5 - i mean its going in my truck and i'm not planning on thrashing its ring piece off all the time if i wanted to do that i'd be leaving the motor in the rx7 mind you i hadn't touched the internals in that and that was just nuts - pity about g/box and diff
