well, he proves they can be not quite as dorky as a stock 4 door. just my opinion. back in the day, i would have sold it and got a 2 door something or other, just like any other kid would have done in the 50's/60's.

yeah i'm sure a flat black with red wheels 2 door would be much cooler. funny yeah it's rare but i've got a bunch of little pages and there is the occasional moredoor included even back then. the cars were all over the place then and you could still see 'em in the magazines makes sense to me that it would only be natural to see more moredoors around now. since more of 'em were little old lady cars that survived. besides go find the story on bob's car. dedication. he basiclly built the car twice after a garage fire when it was nearly done the first time. most people would walk away and start over even with a 2dr.

besides moredoors make good cruisers because it's easy to get you and a shitload of friends in for a day of fun. now i'm not saying i'd drop a shitload of money in a moredoor but they do have thier positive side to. i'm building a '55 plymouth 4 port for the wife. just gonna be a cool old car that i'll have very little money in. hell if i go crazy i might reach the 5 grand mark. as it sits right now it's about 1/3 done and i've got $1400 or so in it and have got a coupla hundred in parts i took off to sell. of course 2 drs a more sleek. but sometimes you gotta use what resourses you got. now i've come to like this plymouth of her's alot and will probably look for a 2dr hardtop at some point and build that for her.

it's just funny to me the guys that put down 4 doors but go the flat black route. ORIGINALITY gone out the window. the first shop i worked at belonged to a guy that has been building hot rods and customs since the late 50s. and laughs at the people that think thats 50s style because he said no one he ever knew back then had a flat black car excet 'shine runners and they would usually spray everything black they could.

not trying to start a moredoor war just stating facts as they are...ken....

Seriously, though, a moredoor ain't what I consider a "hot rod" or "kustom". Y'see, even though wagons can pull it off, and some four-door cars look kinda okay, two-doors are more desirable, harder to find, and just look better. That's why 2doors are where it's at when it comes to tri-5 chebbys, or really anything else. That car just reminds me of something Ward Cleaver would drive. Plus, the question is "What would you do with this?"- I'd sell it, end 'o story.

It's alright. It would look better with two doors.

gives me hope for my 4 door 55! Biggest reason I bought it instead of a 2 door is because it's what I can afford http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree, the only way you would have a 4 door is if that was your parent's car that was handed down to you or if you were a paino teacher........are you??? Just courious?

I like 4 doors for 3 reasons... I have a family and you get more for the money... and you still are driving a cool car. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
