I NEED some drag bike pics from the early 60's through the mid 70's. Me and a freind at work are gathering pieces and ideas for a Iron head('67 XLCH)and a Trump(not sure what year/model yet)drag bikes done in mid sixties "style" to run at some exhibition shows and as some addvertising for our shop. I have a few and a some ideas but would like your alls oppinion about what a drag bike would look like(and perform like)for say 1965. Any help, pics, or web addresses for above would be great, thanks.

I have just the pics for you... but they are in Modesto at my friend/relative's house.

He owned and built a drag bike... in and around '65. Don't know the size (80 inches maybe?) but I do know it was a Sportster motor. The thing was wicked... and used to run at Fremont, Kingdon, Sacramento, and down in SanDiego. Jerry built the injection unit with help from his good pal Lenard Abbot (sp?) Who later went on to start the LENCO transmission company. Jerry tells stories about hanging out with Lenard and Bruce Crower. Jerry was there the night that Crower got inspiration for his slipper clutch at Fremont...

Anyway, the bike was blown and injected and made over 200hp on paper. It ran on nitro/Alcohol and ran in the low nines at 150+

Anyway, I'll get over there in the next two weeks and take some pics of his pics... it is a way-cool bike with lots of history... too bad the guy who got it from him strethed it... He said it never ran as fast after being stretched.

Sam.

I'm still looking for a pic to post that shows the same type of head treatment. It was common on the knuckle drag bikes to remove those large nuts and replace them with smaller ny-lock nuts. That appears to be what is happening in that photo.

Buick 59,
Killer photos your dad took at Lyons.

Much more in focus than mine. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Except for the rear mounted shift lever, the tach, and the missing kickstarter, this mid 60's drag bike looks alot like the current bobbers. ?
