Phoenix Motor Cars builds electric vehicles based on vintage US models from the 1940s. They are currently having their first prototype evaluated by the California Air Resouorce Board The initial drive system will be an Enova 90KW system and will use Evercel batteries. Phoenix motor cars are saying that they are seeing real world ranges of 110 to 120 miles and a recharge time of 5 to 6 hours. They also support fast charging using a 200 amp system that gives a full charge in less than one hour.
Production chassis are produced by Art Morrison Enterprises Inc. in Fife, Washington. There are currently 7 body configurations that fit their production chassis and they are manufactured by Downs Manufacturing in Lawton, Michigan. The production chassis and bodies are based on 1937 Ford vehicles.
They have just received a fleet order for 20 vehicles and are currently working on a quote for several hundred vehicles. Once the CARB certification process is complete their prototype 1937 Ford Cabriolet 4 seat with removable hard top will be available for sale. They are also excepting individual orders with prices ranging from $65,000 to $120,000 per vehicle.
