I suck at this whole HTML thing! I don't know how you guys do it! You are my heroes!

How do you use a picture as a link? Is there certain code that does not work with the format of this website?

Example: If I wanted to say use a picture of Rashy as link to say an article about Rashy or a story about one of Rashy's cars, how would I do that? The picture would have to be hosted on photobucket or something first, I assume.

I was thinking of doing a banner for the HEMI Tech Index in my signature line so it was a little more obvious that it was there. This is why I ask.

Thanks for any help, ya' compooter gooroos... :D

P.S. Don't worry Rashy... I don't have any pictures of you! :D

Alright. There's a pic of me (sorry, best Mama could do) there is also a link to the story and a hyperlink to the story.

Now, let's look at the script that makes those things happen... Keep in mind these links have brackets [] on each side. for the purpose of showing the goods, I will replace the first [ with a { so it shows the code.....

The Pic

The Hyperlink...

Now let's see if we can put that together so the pic is clickable and becomes the hyperlink......

Ill be damned!!! It works!!!

Here's what I did...

The URL link looks like this

{URL="http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=152067&highlight=underhaulin"]Underhaulin

All I did was replace the part that says Underhaulin with the script to the pic so the new script looks like this...

{URL="http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=152067&highlight=underhaulin"]{IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/Rashy1/Underhaulin/IMG_1838.jpg[/IMG]

Now keep in mind that I replaced the front brackets with this thing { so you can see the script.

This is using photobucket but I bet you could do it with attached photos.... Let's see...

Alright, the code for that thing is {ATTACH]426264

No we can try inserting that to the hyperlink in the same way as before.....

Hmmm, not so much. My guess is because the attach command is VB script not actual HTML.

But now you know a way of doing it.

WOW! Great! Kick ass! And now I have a picture of you! HWU HWU HWU!! :D HAHA!

I'll play with it. I'll get to work on a banner for the Hemi Index too. I'll PM Ryan about the contents of the banner to make sure it's okay with him.

Thanks man!!

Okay Rashy! There's a little somthin' in my sig. line now! :D I did it a little different though.

In Edit signature mode I browsed for a picture from my computer, previewed, then clicked the link to "insert picture". Previewed it again and swa that there was a generic looking code with some things embedded in it. So for the hell of it I stuck the link to the HEMI Tech Index between the two bracketed items and VWUA LA! It worked! Even easier than the code you posted. :D

Now I just need to clean up that image somehow...

I welcome it with open arms....

I missed the part where you wanted it for a signature. Glad you figured it out.

That was a little trickier... after messing with it a few more times I realized it takes some fudging... the HTTP link has to be present in the signature BEFORE the picture is attached for some reason. Then the link can be cut and pasted in between the two bracketed components.

Now... I wonder if TWO pictures can be stuffed in there... Hmmmm...
