I'm coming to SoCal!

After the past couple months busting my ass to get my car ready for the Pileup (unsuccessfully http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif ), I'm ready for a vacation. So I'm coming to SoCal. Santa Monica to be exact to hang out with one of my best friend's, Fastsporty. So far the only definite plans are to go to the Pomona Swap Meet, and hopefully hook up with SAVAGE on Monday when he gets back. I arrive Wed night (15th) and leave Tues morning the 21st.

Anything going on that's noteworthy? Fastsporty mentioned having a BBQ or something. I heard the Devil's Punchbowl is closed, so I'm not sure what shows will be going on. One thing that i MUST do is go surfing. Can anyone recommend a particular beach or someplace I can rent a board? I think last time I went, we were at Manhattan Beach. Anybody wanna surf with me? I'm a flatlander, so yeah, I suck at surfing. But I love it.

you can check out the rumble bar in downey (i think), never been there, but my friend said its fun. there are a few more places in N. hollywood you can chill at... i usually see a local C.C. named CREEPS, i have seen Rumblers hanging out at burgundy room and some other bar/club across the street...think its named the beauty bar.

I'm back home now and all I have to say is, SoCal is awesome. I had a great time. It was cars 24/7 until that last day going surfing. That kicked ass and I wish I had gone more than just the one day. Thanks to Shortbus for hooking Fastsporty and I up with a board, and giving us tips. Dude, you rock!

Took a trip to SoCal Speedshop and WCC to see all the young teen girls getting wet over Jesse James. I was hoping to see his '36 and get wet myself, but no such luck. Went to the Garage Co afterwards, went to Teddy's for the Old Timers cruise/meeting and also to Bob's Big Boy and met Prime Mover. That was fun. Got to see Tom Spark's amazing collection of cars. Wow. The Primer Nats were kick ass. Met at HIGG's place and drove up to Ventura with him and MotorMouth and Tara in his chopped A sedan up the PCH. Plan 9 rode with us too. He got a little wasted. It's all good. Met Skratch, Seldom Scene, and Mark Morton and Weezner. Said hi to Rickyracer. I don't think he realized who I was. Hung around Zib's place, but had to head back south before anything happened.

We went to Pomona with Abelugo. It was my first time to the valley. Met Hip and SatinBlack58. Cool swap meet but damn was it HOT! Nice chicks walking around in tight assed shorts and bikini tops too. Don't get THAT here unfortunately. That was a definite highlight. Especially the one in line for a hamburger. Wow. Fastsporty knows what I'm talking about. I got a pedal car chassis for $20 and I bought some close but non matching 1936 California plates to run on my car for kicks for $40. Then went to Abe's house to cool off and check out his projects.

Met HIGG and SAVAGE at Dukes for dinner. It was super cool for Savage to come out since he just got back from Europe.

Hope I didn't leave anybody out. I enjoyed meeting and hanging out with all you guys. What a blast. I can't wait until the next trip. And a big thanks to one of my best friends in the world, Fastsporty for taking off work and running me all around. I loved it. I took like 400 pics. I'll have to build a mini site or something to show them all.

Sounds like you had a real good trip Chad. I hope my trip in late January is as fun packed as yours was. I plan on landing at LAX Friday morning the 23rd and leaving Tuesday morning after taking in the 55th annual Oakland Roadster Show in Pomona. I'll be looking for advice as the timing gets closer (December). So much to do and not enough time to do it:(
