i have a friend that uses propane instead of Acetylene in his torch. he does'nt do alot of welding with it but swears by it for torching and says what little welding he has done with it it worked well.
anyone have any experience with this?? i'm not as worried about cutting as i have a plasma cutter but i do plan to do quite a bit of welding with it along with the usual heat and bend stuff too.
also, anyone used it to weld aluminum?? and how about ANEALING aluminum??? i know about anealing aluminum with Acetylene but how would you do it with propane (there is no SOOT)????
thanks for the input...

Not real helpful, but there is a company that makes gasoline torches www.petrogen.com (http://www.petrogen.com) they are primarily for industrial and fire/rescue but they could be good for hot rodders too.

The main reason most people use propane is that it's cheaper. but it doesn't make as hot of flame either. For cutting special tips are required but I think for welding the regular ones will work. As long as it gets hot enough there is no reason it shouldn't work.
