Just wanted to show you guys some pics of my 1963 Serro Scotty travel trailer. HotRodDrummer's dad gave us this old camper that had been sitting around a junkyard for a number of years. As you can see by the pictures...it didn't make the drive home very well - even on a car trailer it fell apart!
We're doing a complete teardown and rebuild on it. We're thinking of frenching in kustom tail lights (possibly 50 caddy tails). It will eventually have wide whites and painted steelies, custom paint with flames (yellow to match my LATEMODEL hot rod truck http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif), and polished aluminum trim.
If any of you show interest...I'll post progress pics as we go....

You need to drive it around the block one more time to finish the tear down.
I dig old trilers, cant wait to see your progress. Have fun.

LOL Joe! It's gonna be ready for your show this weekend!
yeah right.
But that's technically what we're building it for....to take to car shows so we can avoid hotel expenses. Plus, I wanted my own crap in the yard! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

WOW! What a project! Great start so far. If you need any "techy" advice or "finished" photos, get ahold of the So-What crew in the York, PA area. That group has about 8 of them "Scotty's" and camped together at the NSRA show in York every year till now. I'll fill ya in on all the details this weekend, but York, next June is a must for you guys and your Scotty http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Got room inside for a 3rd person???? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here's a partial shot of "Scotty Town".......gone, but not forgotten!

CherryB....SKATKAT is the athoritie on Scotty campers both of us have one just like yours. We gutted mine and put a new roof on it. Try puuting that thin silver insulation between te aluminum and the plywood. Another trick I did (by mistake) was to cut the roof material about a half inch too wide per side. Wit the extra metal hanging over I carefully hammered it over the edge making it a little more water tight. SKATKAT (keith) used aluminum for the roof of a big rig trailer for his roof. His roof has no seams. I'll try to get some pics up soon.
