My dad and I started construction of a wood boat tonight. In an effort to save some cash, I've decided to part out my 59 belboy banshee. I'll be using the motor, steering, and trailer, leaving a bare hull. It would be free to any one that can use it.

Isn't this the same boat you got a couple of years ago and just loved? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif I think remember seeing some photos posted a while back and thinking that would make a great hot tub in the backyard. Make a wooden "dock" down one side, instal some jets, fill with water and your good to go.
I could have it confused with someones find awhile back. Sure do wish I lived closer. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yes Denise, it's the same boat. I bought it for a project to do with my Dad. Since then we've decided to build a wooden boat. We started on the woody last night. As much as I would love to restore the glass boat, by using the motor and trailer, we will save a grand or better on the new boat.
I can already tell this project is going to be one of the best things I've ever done. My Dad and I get along fine, but like so many people, never find enough time to spend together. Now Tue. night is boat night. So now at least one night a week is spent with my Mom and Dad. My Mom has terminal cancer, so the more time I can spend with them, the better. She had tears in her eyes when we told her we were going to do this. She is far more worried about how my Dad will deal with her death, than dieing. The closer my Dad and I can get, the better for all of us.
We are already thinking about building a second boat, so I know I'll never get to the restoration. It looks like Badpat wants the old boat, so I feel a little less guilty about parting her out.
Sorry for the personal o/t ramble, but wtf, it feels better to talk about it.
And it is too bad we live so far apart! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
