i've got an aluminum edelbrock intake for my 389. on the back it's got 2 water holes on each side. one on each side is plugged with a freeze plug. i need to switch em so the passages line up.
are there certain plugs made for aluminum? what's the best way to get the old ones out an put the new ones in? i've never had to fuck with plugs before.
doesn't look that difficult, but figured i'd ask before i go and destroy my intake.

i wonder if brass would work better in that case than steel ones? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

From what I've been told running brass in a system with aluminum can cause electrolosis and eat the aluminum. I got an aluminum radiator and the manufacturer said to not use any brass in the system but I haven't gotten an answer on what to do about the brass temp sensors or the brass that may be in the heater core. I'm assuming it is copper/brass.

the whole time i worked on cars never used a steel plug always used brass had never heard anything about electrolysis with the brass ones never had any probs on any of my cars neither
They thing that confused me the most was the aluminum fuel injection manifold from Edelbrock came preassembled with brass sensors. I've never had any problem with brass either but the radiator mfg. is warning me against it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

well, at this point, it no longer matters. i didn't have the time last night to do the conversion of the 61-64 aluminum intake to the 1960 heads. just slapped the original fucker back on.
i did however take a closer look at the edelbrock intake, and i does have brass plugs in it.
