Just curious- what does the frame look like on one of these? It's so well hidden in the catalogue pictures, I get the feeling it must be painfully ugly and that the car cannot be shown without the hoodsides.

It is ugly, but it doesnt matter when the car is built. Tube frame type deal. I have ALL the magaizine build ups of that car HOT ROD in the 80s. Street Rodder and R&C in the 90s. Really is a nce car when all covered up, hood sides.etc.

Yeah, but I hate hoodsides. Hot rods are as much about the motor as anything else! Oh well, I guess I'll have to return the dream to buying the ASC rails.

It is a "functional" design, but it doesn't have any frame rails that look anything like a Ford frame ahead of the firewall so if you want to run without hood sides stick to an original or reproduction frame.

yeah what they said, preety much your run of the mill square tube frame.

although im sure if you wanted to get creative you could graft on the front rails so it looks good with out the hood.

or..... no idea how this would work but if the unboxed stock rail is taller then the new tube rail but they are both roughly the same shape you could just put the old curved rail over the new sharp angled rails

but i spose that much work into it you might as well have just swaped the front ends for the old one like i said first off

I think Scarry Larry's truck has the old front frame rails mated to the custom square tubing frame on his A pickup. Best of both worlds...

Ancient thread, I know, but it was that or "Hey, this has been covered before, do a search."

Anybody know this car? The frame doesn't look "Deuce" to me, and that flat firewall says fiberglass is a possibility.

I was wondering if it was a hoodless Speedway Lo-Boy.

No, the yellow roadster above is not a Speedway LoBoy. The front of the LowBoy frame is shortened and crossmember is raised to get everything down low.
The roadster in the photo above could be a Rod 'n Race Fiberglass '32 Po-Boy roadster.

You made me wonder what the beer and cold medicine did to me last night since I didn't remember the thread! 2003? Slow morning huh? ;)

Yeah, I've been up bouncing a gassy and crying 3-week-old for several hours while her mom sleeps.

Thanks. The two-year-old was turning out so well (can pick out Model As and Falcons with ease), that we thought we'd try again.

i built the 2d kit sent out. it is a wedge shaped 3x3 with a severe kickup behind the grille shell with like a trans crossmember shortend for headlight holder. everything is inside the hood sides and behind the grille shell.. in the rear is 1/4 elep leaf springs very basic deal but not ford looking at all.
