View Full Version : How to mount spring behind axle with split bones?

Ive seen alot of cars in pictures with split wishbones. And spring mounted behind the axle. How is this done? Are you using the spring pivot from speedway and threading it into the bone? What spring are you using? Ive got a 41 ford front axle, split bones, going on a Model-A frame.

Heres a picture of the brackets I made. 60's style made some real similar and has a nice article in the tech side.
Dont mind the ugly welds there just a mockup tack!
most I've seen use a machined sleave welded in the wishbone to accept the perch bolt
I did a bracket attachment similar to Levis but it wraps all the way around the tube.
I did a post briefly showing how I did mine but
you won't find it in the Tech forum.

Hmmm... I read all of those posts and they were great. I'll try to dig them up in order today at lunch and get them where they belong.

bolted thru the axle and welded around the wishbone.... BOTH
