Just bought a 66 Dodge pickup. Previous owner told me that the speedo cable had been making noise, so he disconnected it from the tranny and that it needs to be lubricated before reconnecting it.

Having never done this before, I figured I'd ask you guys:

What do I use to lubricate it?

Thanks.

Might be time for a new cable.

For speedo cable lube, check with any auto supply house. They sell a small tube that screws on the speedo end of the cable (you will need to hook it up to the trany first) and go for a drive. If lube is all it needed then the cable should quiet down.
