my buddy finished up the floor and we got the new seat from the junkyard mounted. it's the rear seat from a Mitsubishi Expo mini van,i think.we also extended the shifter with the shifter rod from a `38 ford, maybe you can see it in the crappy picture...cheap digital camera
rocky, when we redid the firewall,we left a hole in it so you can see the mechanical oil pressue gauge you had on the back of the block....even though the gauge in the dash works
after all this work,i never had a chance to go for a drive until today. we cruised all over town, what a blast to drive! and all the stares (or were they scared?) from the locals.
i told my buddy that we shouldn't call it the Rocky 33 anymore...he has now renamed it the Larry 33 after himself,i hope this doesn't offend anyone.

forgot to mention....the piston on the end of the shifter is a REAL piston, came from a west bend go kart engine i had as a kid. it pays to keep old stuff around, you never know when you can use them!

Nah . . . I think what happens is that Larry's new nickname is Rocky. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Steve.

Hahahahaha! Hey! I hate the shifter but I love the new name.
I left the little stub of a shifter on the T-5 because I liked the way it shifted but it ain't mine no mo. Glad Larry likes it. The tranny is the very best part of the truck. The gear spacing takes full advantage of everything the little flathead puts out. Henry should have put T-5's behind every flathead.......keep us posted on the Larry 33.
ps...what was wrong with the little red seat? I know the foam needed to be trimmed back on the left side but otherwise it was a comfy little seat......except when you sat in it for over an hour and the foam crushed down flat...
Steve's right -- rename your pal. He doesn't have any important history, but the car does!

Ah, the curse of buying a car that everyone knows!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I like all of the changes except for the shifter, but if he digs it that way...then good 'nuff!
I built a Pontiac YEARS ago and traded it away once. About a year goes by, and someone I know sees it sitting for sale under a coat of red primer. It hardly looked like it's old self, but everyone still called it "my" Pontiac!
Well, I drove by to have a look, and ended up buying it back for a while. Did a few minor changes and sold it again.
Years go by and I'm at a local speed shop when some kid behind the counter says, "Hey! You're the guy who built that old Pontiac that so-and-so had for a while!". I had no idea who this kid was, but he informed me that the car had been painted white (one of it's former colors!) and had a new motor in it. Some friend of his owned it.
A few more years go by, and someone comes up to me on Telegraph one night and says, "I just saw your Pontiac go by...it sounds like it's runnin' a blower now!". I finally caught a glimpse of it later that night...bright yellow with Drag Star wheels and sounding nasty as Hell! Looked NOTHING like it did when I owned it, but everyone around me said, "Hey! It's your car!"
Larry can do what he wants to it...but I tell ya...you just can't shake a car's creator off so easily!!!

Once he finishes that heap the the name change will stick. As it sits, it will be remembered as the Rocky 33. So tell him to get on the ball. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Zeke, the truck IS finished IMO
I wouldnt change a thing (except the new ricer seat)
It will always be the Rocky 33.I was just a steward just as your pal. I too agree that the shorty shifter was better. The tall one looks good but cant shift as well IMHO. Plus, there is proof that too much stress from a tall shifter or even leaning your hand on a manual shifter can wear stuff fast. No, really!!! And you camera really sucks hind teet.
Glad you guys are having fun, remember, never smile just scowl at the locals, it makes the persona bigger http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
