The car's a long way from finished but I can see light at the end of the tunnel now. It's licensed and inspected, has working safety equipment but is a real barebones ride right now. Yeah that's the tin-snip grill I posted a tech article about. Looks ok all painted up.

Here's how it now looks from the side. Yeah I know those wide running boards will really kick the look off. Anybody know how to peel the rubber off those things? Seems it either falls off or its stuck forever. I have a combo.

I've got the gauges in and almost everything is now control via the column switches. That's a cherokee column sporting a Hupmobile emblem

You gotta love this seat! I had a set of bare springs and a picture to go by. It's like sitting on grandma's sofa. That's mohair. Yes seatbelts too. I'm real uncomfortable without them.

The seat nearly rubs the doors on each side and the columns are real narrow so finding a place for the inertia reels took some thought. I ended up putting them inside the doors, high enough the seat doesn't interfere but low enough that the windows should operate properly.

I should finish the rear seat this week and I might go ahead and make the door panels. Next project will be finding all the window tracks and channels so I can complete the interior. Say some of you 34 Ford guys might have a line on that stuff maybe?
looks like a pretty solid car. i cant wait till im at the point that mine looks solid. im not usually into 4doors, but i like the style of that. and it is a hup, not the same car everyone else has. nice car man.
are you going to catch hell from this hurricane? or is it not even a hurricane?

I'm interested in how you did the inertia reels in the doors. I might also consider a post on the pillar with a corresponding socket in the door, to help spread the impact load. Like you, I'm overly concerned about safety, mostly because I'm on the road everyday, and see some real morons out there "driving" (for lack of a better term).
Very nice car in all respects, I envy you.
