Those lincoln V-12's are a cool looking motor. A buddy of mine recently finished his t-bucket with one in it. It only has one carb for now, he is still looking for a multi carb set up.

Hey Guys,
I was actually at that event (with LowSquire) where the pic of that V12 powered truck was taken. To be honest, I was disappointed in person. For me, and this is just my uninformed, judgemental and hypocritical http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif opinion, the truck is a bit like a retro styled fad T = lots of strap on parts and accessories that do nothing for either form or function.
To me, it looks like someone with a shit load of money tried to build a car that fits into the current nostalgia craze and missed the mark by a mile.
Strip of the unnessissary shit - the petrol cans, the fake bullet holes (!), the sign writing et al and it would be a really nice ride. Anyway just my $0.02
The second T in this post - now thats the money right there. Pure class.

i don't know anything about the car, i just thought the motor was interesting
you and pychobilly were there? i was sent the picture from a person named Craig, who was there too...i sold him some parts for a 36-3 window he is buildng, i can't think of his last name right now....you guys wouldn't happen to know him? i'm asking a lot , i know....but he hangs around a guy named Rob , whose building a `35 ford pick up , if it helps...it would be a REAL small world if you did

That pickup is Rod Hadfield's latest I think ?
I saw a section on some Aussie car show on TV at the weekend that showed him and his cars and that pickup was also shown.
It is definitely a bit over the top, but that isn't unusual for one of Rod's cars http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yep, Its Rods. Rumour has it he sold the rod shop and is planning a tour of the States with Final Objective and his twin blown T coupe. Only what I've heard thru thr grapevine, could be wrong.

Yep,The pickup is Rod hadfield,s and the Ardun is Harry Wright,s.Yes,Rod has sold the Castlemaine Rod Shop,so I don,t know what the boy,s who work there are going to do.A friend of mine(Bill Mussett) has worked there for years and is in charge of building Rod,s toys.He has worked on the T coupe,Merlin powered 55 Chev,T roadster,32 Roadster,T pickup etc, etc.Rod definately likes unusual shit. Some of his cars look more like Hot Wheels than real cars but to each his own.
If Rod brings the 55 over the water, people would freak with the amount of work involved!

Two typical Aussie accessories on that pickup are really
from the good old days. The extended yellow STOP hand on the drivers side door and the canvas waterbag on the back.

I thought that was pretty hoaky lookin... But I dont wanna bash on someone elses truck... Cause that thing really is pretty cool in my book... I dont know, but im guessin its CRAZY EXPENSIVE to build one of thoes v-12's(even if close to stock), any of yall wanna give me a dollar amount so Ill know just how crazy... gustmates work, Im just curious...

I believe the gas cans are functional. The car isn't me but I'd love to have the Lincoln. Guess he'll be coming to this years Rat Day to try and pinch that hunk of a trophy.

Just an update-Rod has called to tell us that he has sold the retail/manufacturing portion of the Castlemaine Rod Shop business! That must have been traumatic for Rod and his wife Carole as they have both lived and breathed this business for the last 25+ years. Anyway, they will both be staying on in the business for the next six months to educate the new owners. They are then coming to the States for a tour. They are planning on bringing three cars with them (which ones of his collection, I don't know as yet). Rod is as died-in-the-wool a hot rodder/street rodder as one will ever find. And I'm certain that we Yanks are going to be as blown away as his Aussie buddies are every time he debuts a new creation. I can't wait to find out further what his schedule entails. More info will follow when I have it.

Hey Demon,
Rod is like the Australian Boyd - I dont think he is going to run out of petrol any time soon. On any other car, petrol cans would be cool - on his its just comes off as more rat-rod-alishus posing (like someone said - the worlds most expensive rat rod).
Alot of people over here have a LOVE/HATE relationship with Rod and his shop. I keep my opinion to myself but I know plenty of people who have been bent over or stung. I know in someone ways has nothing to do with that ride but its hard to not let your personal opinion of the builder taint you opinion of the car.

Yeah Rod Hadfield is a unique character, but his heart is in the right place. He has done stuff with cars most of us can only dream about. He has surrounded himself with a very talented bunch of guys. He has also done so much to get the DLRA into the position it is today, along with so many others as well
Pedro Harry Wright's coupe is actually a 3 window and Harry is also an ex Kiwi and is one of the nicest guys one could hope to meet. They really are a great bunch of guys up there in Newcastle. Geoff aka Whodaky!

I dont think anyone is rod hadfield bashing here..definately a good bloke and an asset to rodding here. I'm using some stuff he engineered on my car.
just that thing in the top photo is poo.dont care who built it.
when you overhear people who obviously dont know lots about hot rods saying "thats one of those rat rods" i feel sorta ikky and embarrased, dont even know why.

I saw that Ardun 36 at the Picnic, complete with one of Squeak's stickers in the front screen figured there must be a tie in.....its a pretty kool car, We had Peddro all a quiver over Grease Martins 32 at the hop, even with out the Ardun in it (McCulloch charged flattie at the mo).
Hey is there any such thing as an Ex Kiwi ??

I posted some info on the car back around Easter time. HERE'S THE LINK (http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB1&Number=386124&Forum=A ll_Forums&Words=flathead%20lincoln%20hadfield&Matc h=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=6month s&Main=384862&Search=true#Post386124)
Yes (as has already been said), the jerry cans are functional, well one of them anyway. The car uses the standard cowl mounted tank and uses the left hand side can as an auxiliary. The right hand side is "normal". What is interesting about the cans though is that one of them is the real deal and the other one has been weathered (by the same guy that did the body) to match.
Although I also agree the car would look better painted a solid colour, the quality of the "faux-patina" is quite amazing.
Yes the car is a bit over the top, but as Rod says, it was HIS vision of what the Hot Rod Lincoln would look like.
How do I know all this? I wrote the feature story on it in the Street Machine Hot Rod Annual. It is a pretty amazing piece of engineering, as are all of his cars.
In regards to which cars he's taking to the US. From what I hear it will be the '55 and the twin blown T. As far as a third car, probably to drive around in, I'd put my money on his Hemi powered T roadster, or maybe even the pickup.

the V12 pickup is definatelly not everyones cup of tea.It has some great ideas/novelty items.
At least he does drive it,he drove it most of the way over to Perth from victoria(2500 miles!...approx)for the Easter show.It went really well apart from a minor gearbox problem.
I'd love to see the Ardun powered car in the flesh, maybe he'll take it to the Nationals at Easter.
Are many of the Aussie HAMBers going to the gold coast for the Nationals?
I know a few guys who are going over from here in the west(not HAMBers though)
