O.K. heres the deal, me and the missus are doing the drive down the coast over 4 or so nights.....
Now I have done it before years ago but would like to get some input as to what you locals reckon is worth checking out.
The only thing I need to do is a day trip into Bako to catch up with Squeak and co in there (probably from Moro Bay where I can leave Donna relaxing for the day, unless I figure a better deal), so I guess I'm looking for not only car stuff but other things to do/places to see too try to keep the preggy missus happy and me sane http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
So gimme some ideas, cool shops, museums, what ever....

Hmmm checkout the really art deco bowling alley in Pacifica, stop and look around downtown half moon bay, have Snacky and the boys ink you in Santa Cruz, actually down town SC has some pretty cool shops and stuff along Pacific Street and the old Boardwalk is kinda funky too. Down our way the Maritime museum (near Fishermans Wharf) is pretty damn cool and there are a lot of cool adobe buildings from the Spanish and Mexican period of Cali's history (lots of cool gardens in the adobes too). Oh yeah Wilder Ranch state Park just North of Santa Cruz is a really cool place to stop for a break (bitchen buildings, water powered machine shop! and some old cars to boot) If you go down Hwy 1 the whole way stop in Cambria and go antique shopping as there are some cool car related spaces in the malls and it would not take to long to go through the place, oh yeah Hearst Castle and all the other tourist stuff blah, blah, blah....

There is a car up there I have been considering buying. You can drive it down here for me! No...seriously.
And you could always stop by Santa Barbara for a relaxing meal. I bet the wifey would like it...probably better than Bakersfield. Not that there is anything wrong with Bako.

Thx guys, I was thinking a night in Santa Cruz, seemed prety cool when I cycled through back in the early 90's.
Road apple, if you are serious drop me a PM might save me renting one.
Bako I figure will be more a day for me to do petrolhead stuff and Donna can stay on the coast and relax.

You will come through Santa Barbara (the best city on California's coast) and when you do, call 805-637-3083 and the beers are on me. No one, and I mean no one comes to California on vacation and drives through Santa Barbara without stopping.
I'm not joking either, call me

Ya never know Skip, If I were heading straight up there it would be cool but after a month in the U.K. the beer would be all gone and the pies wouldn't be too good..... you need to get your arse down here !!! summers not far away.
Thx Gooch, will definatly be going through Santa Barbara, we had to stop and clear our heads there on my last visit after checking out of our hotel in Pismo, it was a very big night the night before !!!
