View Full Version : 56 Ford steering box vs 58 or 59 Ford - interchange?

Can any one tell me if the 56 Ford was the same as the 58 or 59 box?

The Hollander manual doesn't say that they interchange and gives different numbers for each. Hope this helps.

Car or truck?

If truck, the difference is the mounting flange, the 53-56 is a little smaller than the 57-60. Box is the same internally and pitman arm mounting. 57-60 has a tapered hole for a tie rod end, 53-56 has the old style ball stud.

If it's for a car I have no idea, but I would think there is some differences, which may be significant or not.
