Couple days ago, I agreed to change the starter on a friend's Toyota. Loaned her my Mercedes until I could get the job done (couple hours, gotta drop a driveshaft to get the starter out, ugh). Which left me with my Citroën 2CV6.
When I went to exchange the starter, I noticed I had left the key 'ON' in the little Cit...
I put a battery charger on it, and cursed.
After fuming for a bit, I remembered the hand crank in the trunk...there was enough oomph in the battery to make the horn beep, so maybe...
Pumped the gas once, half choke, and on the third crank, it started!!!!
I've never hand cranked a car before, got me real pumped http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Though I'm not likely to try hand cranking my Merc diesel anytime soon...

P.S. Before the knowledgeable reveal the truth, the 2CV6 IS a 602cc twin...

Ya beat me to that most important piece of advice! I do spin my 1912 360 degrees and haven't been bit yet. "Huzzah" haven't heard or read that since my RevWar reenacting days.

Ha Ha...my Dad used to hand crank his built-up 58 MGA once in a while...always got a laugh from the other guys in the staging lanes at Detroit Dragway!
