What is the fully extended length of a STOCK rear shock absorber on a '60 Chevy?
Mine came to me with air shocks on it and extended they are like 22"± and with the car jacked up the stock rear springs were loose, now I cut 2 coils off them they sorta bounce around in mid air....I don't really want them to fall out on the first RR tracks I come to http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Any of you running 20" or shorter shocks and can you still change a wheel/tire with the shorter shock?

I did a '64 Chevy...cut 1 1/2 coils out of the rear springs and used the stock (as in "came with the car") shocks and never had a problem...don't recall the length of the shocks tho...it sat low enuff at that point that I had to jack the car way up in the air to remove the tire/wheel...jack under the side frame rail to get it high enuff for the tire to clear the top of the well and the wheel to clear the drum.

you can push the bearing out of its rubber/surround [in the stock carrier bearing] -when you jack em up all the way off the ground that way.
