Model T Touring rear panel.

I know this may be a stupid beginner question, but bare with me. Remember, the intro to HAMB does say "learn from the best and teach the youngest..."!

If you have the front portion of a T Touring body, but obviously no rear panel, what can be done in order to fill that piece in. Do you have to use a piece of sheetmetal the is specifically stamped for that? Do those panels even exist? Where can it be found? Could you use raw steel or another piece of sheetmetal and form it onto place? Thanks to whom ever decides to reply. H

need pictures what do you mean no rear ?,no rear end? no sides? you can buy all that stuff, give us more info you just have the cowl?

To form the curved pieces that transition from the rear of the door to the flat back panel you can use an old pickup hood. Basicly cut the hood in half (front to back). Stand the halves on end (with the back of the hood up) and you have the difficult curved pieces preformed. Just trim them for height and fill in the back piece. Form some 3/4"X3/4", or 1"X1" square tubing to reinforce the top edge and you have the rear section for a modified.

Good question, but it helps to know what year T you have. The front seat back panel is made by a few companies that repop T sheetmetal. If you are buildig a modified an old hood or trunk lid would make a good doner piece. Look at '50's pickup truck rear cab sections as well.

Thanks for the info., I really like the idea of using an old pick-up hood. Basic, cheap and made by hand. Thanks fellas!
