A little more than three years ago we lost out youngest son. He left behind a 68 Ford F-250 that he had dreams of making something special. I don't wish to see it rust into the ground so I am going to fufill his dream. I may not go a radical as he had planned but it will be special. It has a 360 under the hood and I wish to make a 410 out of it and install fuel injection to bring it up to this century. I need help in locating a 428 crank and the high performance 390 rods to accomplish the project. I have heard of a firm in California that sells such parts but can't recall the name. It has to do with the grey matter on top of the head effect the grey matter inside the head. Yes the years are catching up with me. Yes I am a newbie here and no I'm not looking for pitty at Joey's loss. We have gotten past that point and enjoy our other children and grandchildren. Any help will be apreciated.

Would a 48 and a 50 Pontiac Silverstreak or a 50 F-1 Panel truck fit in better? I have them on the back burner. I'm trying to get Joey's project done first. The panel will be next and I have the entire running gear of a T-bird super coupe going under that one. I'm warming up with the 68. Thanks for the responce.

Welcome Gear Up. I like the name but everything I flew was either 3 down and welded or skids. Can't help you much on Fords technically execpt to say I busted many a knuckle working on other people's. PM me with what you're looking for if you want. I constantly search for parts and run across ford 360 stuff a lot since MOPAR also made a 360. Try punching in 383 in a search engine and you'll get 90% Chevy. I'm in CA and I have modest room to store stuff if you happen on anything you need out here that is engine size or so. Or sheet metal. I lost my youngest son 12 years ago. It sucked but I'm okay now.

Hey GearUp,
First off let me say I'm very sorry for your loss, I can only imagine how devistating that must be for you and yours, secondly I would like to say welcome from Ky. I think flh4Speed said it right, you can get any kind of info on here you would ever need, this place is like a giant tech supermarket, available at your fingertips. Lurk, read, ask questions and learn, this is the place. P.S. , good luck on Joeys build!

I apologize for the lengthy pause in following the thread. The business has been hectic to say the least. Located a complete 410 and am awaiting its arrival. The questions that I am pondering at this time have to do with the type of fuel I wish to use. My initial thoughts were to build an engine that runs strictly on E-85 but in the north country I may have a problem with atomization at 30 below. Is E-85 just a phase we are going through and will see the end in the near future or is it here to stay? The 410 is to be fuel injected and will have an EEC to control it that will come out of a recent 460 engine.
If I build it to run on E-85 I plan to run an 11.5:1 compression ration to gain back some of the thermal units lost to the alcahol. If I need to burn gas for the winter will the premium fuels work well at that same ratio?
Thoughts and comments aprreciated.
