Why the fuzzy spots? Are you trying to hide an alternator or something?

zibo
10-07-2003, 03:32 AM
this is me and tony
after an hour
of unbelievable time.

(this was after me and rr62
got to ride in the
FLATHEAD JACK golf cart,
all painted up like the dragster,
through the pits,
through the show
"I haven't even left the pits yet"-tony's comment
driving slower than we could walk,
cause everyone was asking
how they had ran,
in the drags
then parking the golf cart,
next to my rpu,
retorking the heads with his tork wrench,
than having TL ask me what was wrong,
to start the flattie for him
(i was embarassed it was running pretty hot)
standing for 15 minutes while he analyzed it,
and told us some snake oil tricks,
having a small crowd gather around the car,
cause this was not a normal deal,
then telling us to follow him back to the pits,
where his tools were,
watching him change the old mallory dual point distributor
one click over and back half a dozen times,
so much information soaked up in 65 minutes,
all in trade
for a ride in it someday...

fucking crazy

travis aka zibo

(thanks again
to TV
for the backup referral
about the torque wrench,
i had to ask!!)

oh yeah,
we left about 1am friday night
(kids and work you know)
(the rpu was timed
about 5 degrees opposite of where it was supposed to be!
and the radiator had plugged about 4 inches of rods!!)
(stupid old motors...)

anyway, since it was cold on the way home,
we cruised it all the way home at 160-!!
I even passed big rigs!!
the hottest was going up the first grade,
where it got to about 180.
It was strange to drive without stopping for water!!

It was hard to leave after the first day,
but it would have been difficult to match
thursday and friday.

the biggest boner was pulled yesterday (monday)
I decided to tear into the OVERDRIVE system,
and after an hour of tearing out useless stuff,
and replacing it with an idea,
the OVERDRIVE works bitchin!!
we're talking 70%!!

Even though we coulda kept up with the HOP UP guys for
longer (with OD)
it would have diminished the chances of meeting
the NEALINCA/GMC group and SCOTT/DONNY-blugrass special'29
(real hotrods didn't have overdrive back then anyway!!)

anyway,

thats the lowdown so far...

thanks y'all

Nice...But I'll probably take my chances with the radiator cap.

zibo
10-09-2003, 01:42 PM
actually I already did,
that is why I made that thing.
(I had to f*ck with it!)

it wouldn't go enough over,
cause the nut would hit
the aluminum body,
(also the wrench)

so I tried that one notch over trick,
and it didn't start,
after three or so times.
than the fuel pump conked out.
like actually stopped clicking.

so I electrical tested to the pump,
but it had current.

well I took it off,
and the base was covered in oil,
and I used stainless steel screws
to bolt it to the mount,

so I cleaned it up,
and replaced one with a steel screw,
and it works fine now.

---

that is when I put it back one notch,
and decided to just make that extension,
so there wouldn't be any hex head, or wrench.

It runs even better that extra degree or so over.

I still want to notch it back over,
cause the base is extremed over,
the only thing is the condenser,
gets really close to the head.

Eeech...no thanks on the valve cover quick release. I'm thinking something more along the lines of an old socket extention with a hole drilled throught it, welded and blended to the proper bolt. I'd tell you why I'd drill a hole but that part is a secret. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Travis - People are going to eventually see the parts that any of us make, and some will copy them. That is the way this hobby works. So I don't have a problem with sharing that kind of stuff on the HAMB, that is what makes this place so great. The free flow of info and ideas.

What gets to me, is when you express an idea for something you plan to make or a drawing, then somebody comes back here and expresses that very same idea (with your pictures even) and doesn't give credit where credit is due.

I copied Mart's spring eye reverser, aka the Mart-O-Matic, but I always refer to it as Mart's idea.

Oh, and BTW, Rustridden31 needs to show us some pics of his work http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

grimlock(thanks) nealinca et al-
there are some things that I would like to make,
and have met some people that can help out on some ideas.
I at least will not make it easy for people to find out,
and then let the chips fall where they may.

there are some ideas that are handed out graciously,
and others blatantly plagiarized.
To copy a whole car style is a monumental task,
and an honor to the original stylist,
but to copy or let copy something small, fun and unique that can offer
its "maker" an opportunity
will be avoided as long as possible

I don't know why I am making such a big deal,

An intro was requested so I will appease the masses (or at least Zibo and NealinCA). Hopefully my pic will load and you will see my ride. As I mentioned earlier Zibo resurrected this sleeping beast and now it is my turn to give it some guts. I got plans (as do we all) which are still in R&D. But as you can see I am starting solid. Welcome, Rustridden31.....You seem like a good "fit" here. The coupe is perfect but the nose on Zibo's car made me stop and look a little closer at it. I really like it. All the homemade touches make it unlike all the other model A roadsters out there. I'm assuming the nose is a 35 Mopar product?
