Anybody know this guy? Worked with him a long time ago, and recently saw a picture of him in SRM at a rod run in Riverside. Is he a HAMB'er, anyone know? Trying to figure out how to find him again. He always had a yard of rod projects going on, I was nuts for his '34 coupe, loved cruising in it. Just wondering if anyone knows him, now that I've got a project going, too. Rickyracer, the post of your bud Kevin's roadster got me thinking, it seems so much like something Preciado might build or go for. Shot in the dark, anyhow.

Well, have been hearing a lot of people on here lately telling of people that they idolized or grew from knowing, and this Kevin was definitely it.
My first job, at 16, was as a mechanics' aide/car jock at O'Donnell's Cheverolet in San Gabriel, and worked alongide him. Had never befriended a rodder as authentic as him, in terms of getting projects DONE. Chopped 'n fenderless '34 coupes were dream car, starting out, so seeing his fenderless '34 blew my mind. So did getting to cruise in it, and later, drive it (well, parked it out of the shop for him, but that was still a momentus thing to me). Chopped, primered, a 327 up front that made the thing really rumble you in it. He also had a great, restored '69 Camaro, too.
It's been about 13 years, I never saw him outside that job, again, and wonder what he's up to, how many rides he's still got in the backyard.
Who's the first serious rodder or car buff you knew? What made them authentic to you?

I know Kev, Hung out with him 'couple years ago when I was in LA, gave me the key to his roadster, he hopped in that blue 34 coupe and we hit El Mirage, and the Antique Nats the next weekend. Still has loadsa projects, whole backyard full, his dad's backyard too.
He's the one that's re-popping Cyclone parts, call Cook's Machine Works in LA, they should know where he is.

I'll be at his place tonight. I will also try to call him this morning before he starts work. Cyclone is in full swing for the record. (626) 286 1761. Oh, there are a couple of photos of his '34 Roadster in the Rattle Can Nats pics. Wayno

Thanks for the info- what a trip, I got an email from him today, said he'd gotten a call from Elmo while on the freeway about the post. It's a cool surprise, to say the least, to hear from him after all the time. Hoping to keep in better touch.
So he still packs 'em in his dad's backyard, eh? heh heh Thanks for spreading the word along to him, Elmo.

Humbolt Kat, he's an occasional lurker but I keep him apprised of what's going on here. I help him with the Cyclone stuff and we are starting the rather daunting task of building a Flathead powered Lakester. Wayno
