i'd love to go , i haven't been there in 10 years....never use to miss it. there is a lot of interesting stuff, which some could be used on our cars. i've always thought that NSRA and good guys could learn from the EAA on how to put on an event

those who know me know I fly planes. I own an RV6 and our club always goes but I am not this year. I just had a baby girl and cannot fly out for it.
I also fly RC planes (where do I find the time) and will have to settle for that. I am flying to the Vegas show in November

I'm gonna die in a plane. I've known that since I was a small boy. I'm not trying to be cute or flippant either, I will die in an aircraft. I have already seen how it happens.

The ultimate hot rods. I used to have a friend whose dad raced a modified P-51 H. There is absolutely no other engine ever made that sounds as good as a Merlin. I just about get a woody when one does a low flyby.
My friends dad owned the P-40 used in that John Belushi movie 1940 or 1943, whatever.

Hey Gooch,
Did you build it yourself? I love the way they look, and seem simple enough to put together, at least according to the brouchure. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'll never be able to afford one, but I can dream right?
We went in 2000, the company I used to work for chartered a bunch of planes and took anyone who wanted to go for free. It's a great time.

<font color="green">If you see a sawwed off little old bastard there picking his nose next to his T-18, smack him upside his head and tell him Ron from work says he's a dickhead!
His name is Cotner, in case you care to verify first! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I'd love to go, but I'm too busy building fake airplanes...

I have a '49, No not a Merc, its a Globe Swift.
They were built right down the road in Fort Worth.
Also have a Cherokee 180 and live on an airport.(16XS)
Hangers are great places for projects.
There must be a dozen RV's here.
A couple even have the training wheel up front. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It doesn't matter how cool what you currently fly is, Oshkosh is the mecca. I honestly believe I do some of the coolest flying in the world for Unkle Sam...that don't mean that A - I think I've done it all or B - I think I've done it all. If you don't understand, you never will....

My buddy Scot Ingram from Austin (orange 32 5-window) may be flying his Stearman up there. If you see him say hi and tell him I'm in Louisville.
Thanks,
Dennis

"WOW" AirVenture is one hell of an event...!
I was scooting around the ramp in a Willy's Jeep and catching up with all my Warbird friends as well as many others who migrate here each year...! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
The weekend features a massive fly-over of about 100+ warbirds and the sky is just filled with formations of P51's, T6's, T28's, B25's, C47's, B17's, & B26's...! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Can't describe this event in words and it should be see in person to be fully appreciated!
I've been going to this show for 24 years now and have many friends that shared the rush of their passion to me by letting me ride in their planes and have turned the controls over so that I gain first hand experience of these classics!
I guess old cars, planes, boats and motorcycles are in my blood and I'm glad that others and I share this obsession have the ability to gather and pass it on to the next generation...! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
