i have a bad habit of buying stuff on ebay that i dont need but it is cool. last nite i won another early caddy dual quad set up that is complete except the air cleaner. now i have 3 of these plus the one on my 50 caddy. i have gotten about 12 small base wcfb carbs for them.
any one need a caddy intake ????? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
how come you can get stuck on a kick of a certian part on ebay and keep buying them for no reason ????
i have bought almost 100 1953 caddy hubcaps just because they are cool

Are the dual quad carbs any different than other WCFB's? I have a pair to use on a project some day.

they have a small base and bolt patern, corvette duals have a big base bolt patern i think buick's are the same as the caddy ones.

That's the whole idea of advertising: to sell stuff to people who don't need it, but would WANT it if they knew it was available http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
And it obviously works! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Sounds like an addiction,
and helps drive up the prices for people who would actually use their parts.
But as long as your happy...... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Because some guys just can't stop. I had the same damned guy outbid me several times when I was trying to buy guide lights. I finally e-mailed him and asked what he needed 6 pairs of guide lights for. He didn't know, just figured they'd be handy to have around. Anyway, he let me get the next set that came up.

Hey wait a minute, Let's all be careful here. If your wives heard you talking, they would jump all over that. You can never have too many parts or too many cars. They just need to be rotated to other buyers every so often You know. I get your shit and someone else gets my shit. HA!
I need a pair of carbs, I understand they will fit Packards too. I need proper front and back carbs.
Oh yeah, you're stupid.

100 '53 Caddy hubcaps? Unless you have 25 cars for them to fit on... you have more money than sense. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Offer up a few sets for auction and have them send the money to Ryan.

Don't suppose you'd have a dual quad setup for a 472/500 laying around taking up valuable space?

It's an addiction - I've got it too. Every once in a while I really have to clean out my "watch" list! I get all kinds of crap - mostly Harley & Hot Rod stuff...
I prolly spend at least an hour every night with all of the searches I do...and I really don't want to add it all up!!

I feel your pain...I have one lonesome 389 Poncho engine. I have a single 4 barrel setup for it, a tripower and a dual quad for it. Now, I need a single 2 barrel to complete my set. Please don't send me e-mail trying to sell me a single 2 barrel intake...I wasn't serious.

Ha Ha...it just dawned on me...I don't have a SINGLE part on my car that was purchased off of e-bay! Never thought of it before, but it's true!!!
(By contrast, my brother-in-law represents the opposite end of the fence...he buys almost all of his stuff either through mail order or e-bay...he's found some really cool shit, too...including two of his three hot rods that way!)
I gave up on e-bay when the "flake rate" got too high...about 80%...and that was like three years ago...can't even IMAGINE what it must be like NOW!
(FLAKE RATE = Percentage of bidders who do not pay, or sellers who do not ship...in my last group of auctions listed, eight out of ten bidders never sent a penny or responded to e-mails...and four out of five sellers stiffed me on stuff I'd won...that's when I knew it was time to quit! I guess all my flakes found Marcus when I left! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif)
You get bit a few times, and it may curb your addiction! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I've been ebaying for about a year and a half and have about 260 feedback and it would be a stretch if 3-4% were flakes, am I just lucky or what? Selling cars does suck tho and I have only tried that maybe 4 times with about a 50% flake rate there.

When I started on e-bay...maybe 4-5 years ago, it was still pretty good. I had maybe one or two deadbeat bidders per month.
But then, they just started coming in droves! As fast as I'd block ONE idiot, another three would take his place...got to be too much!
E-bay just got too big and it's owners became more focused on making money more so than keeping things tight and enforicng the rules. Some Bozos would have two or three accounts and not care if they flaked out on an item. I gave up trying to play detective and figure out who was legit and who wasn't. The last batch of auctions I listed showed me all I needed to know...ten bidders on ten items...and TWO paid!
(E-bay collects their listing fees and commissions regardless of whether or not the idiot pays YOU, unless you fight with them for months on end. They're getting THEIR cut, so they're not to worried about investigating or curbing the deadbeats).
I went back to locating parts the (heh heh) TRADITIONAL way! Networking with friends, scrounging junkyards and hitting swap meets, garage sales and flea markets. Always worked before, and still does today!
(And if some dork starts flappin' his jaws about "how much he could get on e-bay..." I walk away before he even finishes!!)
The HAMB has made networking fun and practical again...almost all the major components for my car (including the car itself!) came from friends I've made HERE! Others came from car guy buddies I've known for years...and some were scrounged the old fashioned way. I'll list HAMB auctions and stuff to support THIS board...but I won't even THINK about going back to e-bay...except to use it as a sort of "free research tool"...good for looking up pictures of stuff!

why do i bid on stuff i dont need ????
Need really don't have anything to do with it, does it?http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'm done selling stuff on ebay, I'd rather sell it right here or take it to a swap meet.
It seems like the old car part business has turned into speculation on ebay. Truth is I have gotten so much more for parts I sold on ebay, but who knows where it ends up.
I still buy shit off there like a dumb ass.
