It's Thursday, and I was surprised to not see a show going yet. I was anxious since I hadn't posted in a while. Any feedback would be appreciated. Here is a link to a video I made of this truck as well.

i like it Dan. i've long wanted to try my hand at oil painting. seems like it would be VERY time consuming.

Thanks. I have about 4 hours painting time in that piece. It was done over a few days in between layers, but oil isn't as tedious as some other mediums and it actually works well to go quick. In other words... it ain't gotta look perfect.

every week is an 'early friday art show'
not to mess with tradition, or step on any toes... but why not make it the Thursday Art show?!
either way, I look forward to it every week :)

Think of it in terms of a gallery show.
The day before the show the artists hang their work.
The next day the art show opens.
At least that's the idea.

Draw these pictures up in around 1957-60, when Chrysler was
pushing their(SUDDENLY IT'S 1960 ) ads
it's too wild by todays standard and by 1962 desgns
became cleaner and much milder.

man, the stuff this week is simply amazing! Better than most art shows that I have to drive to!
Ditto for me on the Thursday thing. I don't like having to rush through everyone's work all in one day...
dankyd-awesome oil painting dude. The more I look at it the more I love it. It sucks me in. Custom builder-nice! I dig the color in the wrenches. (by the way, loving the airbag kit!). Gary C.-killer work as always. When I see your avatar while scrolling down, I'm always excited. Janne-your work is beautiful. It just is. Zombie-OMG. That is sick. Idea and execution A+. Meteor-can't wait to see that whole piece. Sinclair-it's not an accident that they named a paint after you:Dnice work.
this one is taken from an old photo that I fell in love with...
the photo has so much energy and I'm a sucker for vintage trailers

thanks for all of the feedback. i was trying to get it done for the last art challenge, but missed the deadline. anyhow, heres my initial working sketches with a quick rearend design. i would probablly elaborate more on it if i was going to actually draw it. i just did a rough to make sure everything would work.
futureelements, i stopped by your booth at gnrs. way cool stuff. im not usually a big fan of computer art, but your stuff has a real good natural feel to them.
falconizer, i love that style.
sinclair, really cool. it looks like a corvette center hood section? great design.
gary c, i always enjoy your posts.
dankyd, awesome. im exited about running featureing you in the new rod & kulutre.
mike, im digg'n the flash.
meteor, real cool. check the drag cars in motion thread. there is a lot of referrence material on there. ive downloaded a turd load of stuff from there already.
motorcitythreads, real cool t-shirt. id wear one.
sorry if i missed anyone, theres just too much cool stuff.

Everybody is so damn good on here, Zombie, its always fun to see what your up too. I kinda hurt my drawing arm, and it kinda slowed me down at work and on here too. Its a little bit depressing for me , but I'll crawl out of it! Well. the only thing thats been on my mind , for some reason, is Rod Powells old Merc. Canted quads, enlarged wheel openings in the rear, its got some interesting features that I overlooked all these years. I love this car, especially after drawing it some, would make a neat model car too. These are some rough sketches that I made when I was tired of blocksanding. one of them is on carboard. Wish I had more time to finish it!:D

Zombie, Love seeing the sketch work! You came buy my booth? Well thanks for stopping by. Did we talk at all? I love your work as well and thanks for the kind words on mine. I have a traditional background so I still try to implement that into my digital stuff. Most of my work was originally done in gouche or markers and chalk and some oils here and there.
Sinclair I have seen you stuff before too, great stuff and thanks for the kind words as well.
I will be posting more from now on just to get to know you guys more. I am a fan boy of a lot of your works here.

I will have these for sale soon, so be on the lookout for them in the Classified section in the next week or so.
Also, did a second version of that 40 Ford shirt idea, this time I dumped it a bit more and added some red wheels which help out with some more color in the car design.

FANTASY DRAG RACE
I was reading about drag racing in the early sixties and decided to doodle this out.
the year is 1965, I have this modified 1960 chevy with a big block 348 with three pairs of carbs, modified headers, all the stuff a weekend rodder would need to take a grocery getter to the track. It does the quarter mile at a top speed of 110 mph using 315 horse power, getting the trunk past the finish around 13 seconds.
I don't know a lot about these cars since i was about 7 then, but i read good and that seems typical for that time.
Anybody want to sketch or photoshop out a competitor for a MATCH RACE? does 'nt have to be a full bodied car , but something that would have been around in the early part of the decade.
Any Takers? in the next couple friday art shows? look foward to what you come up with

I did a sign for Ken Harris's 36 Ford 5 window coupe for the Sacromento car show, this week end. But I'm not going to make the show myself. The way thing's worked out I didn't have a chance to photograph it. So if someone w/a cammera is up there and they don't mind. Could you please grab a shot of it for me. It's all white lettering and pinstripping on clear red Plexi glass. Thank you!
Didn't make it to the Barn this week so no cup. But I did this for the Art Chalenge but missed the dead-line. I posted it last week but it was just before they arquived the show so I'l post it again.

great stuff again this week, welcome to the first posters
just wanted to take a moment for congrats on 12 years to a great website.
I love this site and the friday art shows. after so many years of stuffy gallery shows and craft shows where I felt timid and out of place, it's great to have the freedom of expression and a place to show your work every week and to see all the other work that is about the same kulture.
It always inspires me to keep going and to get better.
CONGRATS AND HAPPY 12th Jalopy Journal, it's only gonna get better.

Midfriday, and we're already up to page 5? ...and on top of that, I don't even have a hot rod this week. I'm not worthy. Somebody posted a Big Rig thread and it made me think about a goofy design I'd done in High School so I sat down and threw down some lines. Go easy on me...

I got a Wacom tablet a couple of years ago. Didn't know how to use it so after talking to my favorite artist Jeff Norwell, little by little he's been walking me through on how to use it right. I never did good in school and if I would have had teachers like him, who knows where I would be at today... in the gutter... drunk.... and without a job!! LOL!!!! So here are my first attempts using Painter 10 that I got for Christmas from my son. See what you guys think.

Sorry for taking forever. Here is my son's truck he did in charcoal. He's 14 and had be tow the truck around while we were mocking it up so he could take a bunch of different pictures of it to draw. He has some issues with perspective but he's damn proud of it and I am, too! Plan is to have it at Billetproof Detroit but right now it is in grandma's garage in bits and pieces!
