There ain't no privacy anymore.
Go to Google and type in your phone #, use dashes 555-676-8765, your complete name and address will come up. Can also get a map by clicking on mapquest. I just tried it on a post from 55safari and it brought up his shop name and number as well as links to other stuff he had posted or was featured on the internet.

Now there is another good reason not to put your phone # on the internet.

Didn't work for me Bob...I even tried it three times...let me suggest it's based on published phone numbers, in telephone books...mine is unlisted and unpublished so nothing came up for me... if you want privacy, DO NOT let the phone company list you in their phone books...and as Bob said, do not list your phone number (same goes for address, account numbers, banks, etc., etc.) on the internet!

It is for listed phone numbers. You can do the same thing by just going to whitepages.com and doing a reverse search for a phone number.

Went thru the same thing when my pops finally got connected to the internet. It absolutely blew his mind that by searching Excite.com for my name resulted in a rendered map with a big ol' red star showing the whole world where my house is. Real 'Big Brother' stuff!

Never mind that anyone coulda done the same thing with a phone book and a key map. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not just that, but don't list your Phone # on ANYTHING, there is NO requirement Anywhere, that at least I've ever done business or whatever with that I've HAD to include this info on. Cop tried to give me shit about it at the side of the road the other day and I told him it wasn't any of his Goddamned Business and since he was "giving me a ticket for the first time in 4years he could Fuck Off anyhow!" I don't include it on Anything, actually it's been in a former roomates name for nearly 10yrs now so it isn't tracable to me anyhow!

Oh my GOD! Yeah that really scares me to death. To think someone might actually find out where I live?!?! Hahahaha....please tell me you're not serious. That information was available to most anyone well before the internet existed and "big brother" was an only child. Are you just scared because your 12x12 log cabin had never showed up on mapquest before now? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

All of you spooky license plate blurring people who find prophecies in folded dollar bills and are constantly looking over you shoulders kind of wierd me out.

oh boohoo! did ya actually think that shit was private? For fucks sake if yer in the phone book anybody can find you. Dont give yer phone number to radio shack anymore when you you buy your bomb making equipment. Don't use your library card, or credit card, gas card, grocery store card, social secirity card etc etc.

Nothing is private. Except maybe when you close the bath room door to jerk off.

In Australia, you can't actually do a "reverse lookup" on the phone number through whitpages.com.au. I noticed when I was in the US you could and it actually came in quite handy some times.

I've always had a listed number, it doesn't bother me, and although theoretically, someone could search the phone book for my number and get my address and name it sure as shit would take them a while (my surname starts with a V).The Internet just makes the same information more accessible, but that doesn't mean you have to use it. You shouldn't be able to search on phone number alone.

My dad was a car dealer back in the sixties...at that time, you could buy all types of listings...license plate listings, phone listings, address listings...all legit from the govt. It's nothing new now, just easier.

I was in a party store a couple of days ago and they scanned a customers drivers license bar code to see how old he was...I wonder where that info ends up??

Or, you can simply call the operator for that info. I've gotten many addresses that way, complete with Zip code. Helps with mailing packages when you only have a phone number.

try www.terraserver.com (http://www.terraserver.com) on for size. It will give you a sattelite photo of anywhere you ask. You have to sign on to get real detailed photos but with the demo you get to about a 15 mile area.

I typed in my name on Google and found out I am an underwear model for Tommy Hilfiger.

You don't know the half of it. You can even get satellite photos of your neighborhood and zoom in on your backyard!!!
That's my house in the red circle. We jumped in the pool 2 doors down last fall nekid and all when the house was vacant.....
If I parked the '49 in the driveway, you would see it there...

Most info is really public knowledge especially if you work for the gov't either fed or local you can easily inquire the taxes on someones home, his/her salary if they are gov't employees, Since I meet this criteria, the only thing I really guard is my S/S# and I shred all my mail such as credit card statements etc. other than that you cant stop it

My wife works for a legal firm. Every time somebody on the street does something stupid and pisses her off, if there unluckly she might just take down there lic. plate no. and run it thru the computers at work to track the fuckers down and send them a nasty letter signed as the person who you pissed off enough to track YOU down. Takes about 3 minutes. She can also find out what you own, if you or your company is going bankrupt etc etc etc. Nothings private.

Somebody PLEASE show me where I can track vehicles by their license plate!!! MAn, that would save me TONS of hassle! And however Cool them satellite pics are, I'm really in no hurry to log onto something that's for SURE going to get the govt tracking my computer usage either. Hell, probly too late, whatta ya gotta do for some anonymity in this world? Yeah, I know, go live in a woods somewhere in Canada with nothing but a generator, pirate your satellite etc, etc and do everything in cash... Oh well, why do I pretend I'm being less obvious to big brother than everybody else?

Hey, told my lawyer about my ticket, for $500 she guarantees I won't have it on my record. And I don't have to bump belly's with that lazy dork prosecutor to get it that way either, she'll do it for me! Sounds like a good enough investment...She sounded like she'd she'd enjoy it!
