View Full Version : Chainsaw Oil In An Old Mill ?

Was talking w/ an old timer Ford guy who has built many an ass kickin' engine the other day & he told me I should quit wasting money on lead additive for my Y-Block and run chainsaw oil instead.

Have any of you ever heard of such a thing?

Was he talking about the 2 Stroke oil you add to the gas, or the bar oil used to lubricate the bar and the chain?

Either way, it's going to cause smoke in the exhaust. Never heard of using either as some kind of lead substitute.

He was speaking of the 2 stroke oil. 6 oz. per fill-up in my big ol' 56 Vic.'s tank. He claimed that it wouldn't make the motor smoke, but I have trouble believing that as well. It would provide a lubricating quality I suppose.

Diesel fuel added at about a quart a tank will do the same thing. It has the lead you need. That's why they want
cad converters on diesels. They won't stop until they

I don't think it would smoke, considering the Mix ratio.
