After working some bugs out and scorching the body, I finally got some time to weld on some turn downs, and primer the car black (who am I to change the trends) Truth is I was hoping to have time to actually shoot black paint on the car before the drags, but I have run out of time. I need some shoe polish for the trunk "H.A.M.B drags or bust"

Now that we have the sarcasm out of the way, I've got a question. How are the winshield posts anchored to the body? The reason I ask is that the winshield looks quite tall and it is bound to be pushing quite a bit of air at say 70MPH. I'd hate to see you wearing that windshield after a high speed run down the Mokan dragway.

Your right, Frank......it needs to lose about 7 inches of windshield!?

looks tough as hell. the black makes the interior look alot more at home too. the tall windsheild gives it a real period look. dig it man. i gotta get a ride one day soon..

Thanks Everyone, missed a few shows, thrashes, and RRT BBQ builds to get it done.
Frank, The posts have three bolts going through a steel plate from the under side of the body and into the posts. It's a lexan windshield from Percy's. It's seemed ok so far. I have set screws that go through the pillars and the windshield. It does flex some in the center due to lack of support, I may remove it for drag strip runs. I've been thinking of getting a piece of safety glass cut for it, but I'd like to get some more driving time in before I do anything.
Here a pic of the first try at the windshield I cut 2" off just to get it to where it's at, and I agree it's too tall. I'd like to cut the windshield down some for the right look, but keeping it this height will let me drive in the rain so I can still hide behind it.

old beet, It is an automatic, but I wont be going nearly that fast, unless I find some time to put a gear in it, I'd be suprised If had to use 3rd gear at all, at the strip.

Been keepin' up with your posts on the roadster, Gus, and while roadsters don't do anything for me, yours has come a long way and is looking good...
1.) The interior really makes the car...even if it was a homemade job...it looks nice and fits the car.
2.) I like the blak better than the gray, but in my artistic opinion you need another color to set the whole car off...red wheels-NO!!! Try sumthin' different: Lavendar! AND...pinstripe the car in Lavendar and Lime Green.
3.) The windshield is too tall...it needs to come down a couple of inches anyway...and REAL HARDCORE roadster drivers don't let a little rain stop them...say, didn't you take a trip with HRLC a year or so back and she NEVER had a top on that car...and didn't it rain...a lot????
4.) The headers are perfect, now...never liked the look of exhaust burning the body anywhere.
5.) Paint the grille shell the same color as the car --NOT shiny blak...that's for frames only.
6.) Thin trim rings would help with the period look.
All in all Gus, I'd say you gotta winner!!!

I rode in his roadster last week without the windshield, it wasn't pleasent. There was NOTHING to block the wind. If this was just a run about town ride, a shorter windshield wouldn't be a problem BUT next week he is DRIVING it to L'ville for the Nats, over 7 hours one way and two weeks later he's DRIVING it to the HAMB Drags, 12 hours one way. We all agreed it would look better with a lower windshield BUT sometimes function needs to come before looks.
As it is, it's a white knuckle ride similiar to a go-cart and he's got huge konas for driving it the distances that are planned.
Plans are for some pin-striping, in fact last Friday nite we all discussed having a stripping party at my place this fall with Safarinut55 doing the honors.

Now THAT would be a PAR-TAY!!! A striping and stripping adventure combined...strip poker I assume...my kinda party!!!
Yes, function should be considered...that's one reason I would never own a roadster...can't stretch my legs out!!!

White wheels might provide a nice contrast and tie into the interior. Perhaps even a white radiator.

Tom Medley would love it! Has a definite arin cee look to it except for the motor. Gus, I don't think I'd change anything except maybe a shiny black paint job and ribbed trim rings on the wheels..the end.
