I'm interested. Get some prices so we can resume our dreams or wake up to the reality that they are out of wallet range.

Do you have a picture of your friends I would like to see what other people are doing! I made a set at my friends metal shop for the Chevy. Though they are pretty basic. I really wanted a set and couldn't afford the $300 dollars per seat. Do you have a picture of your friends I would like to see what other people are doing!

A pic would be good, so I can work out how to make my own http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Probably cost me twice as much, take twice as long to build, not look as tidy, but I'll have that warm glow that comes when you build your own shit http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm the guy who's making the seats. I run an antique aircraft restoration shop called AeroCraftsman here in Hemet. A buddy of mine up in the Bay area hooked me up with a friend of his who's building lakes style '32 and wanted some bomber seats. I copied an original he provided and could build more if there's interest. I'm in the final stages of restoring a 1929 TravelAir biplane right now, so I'm not really prepared to go into full production of seats just yet. The two I built were more of a favor for a buddy. I got $400 each these and would expect to charge about the same in the future. Let me know if you're interested.

ya nice looking, what kind of provision for attachment points on the bottom or do you just put the bolt thru the bottom? Price seems fair to me.

Although there has been some positive responce so far I suspect there will be those who think he is ripping you off at that price. From looking at the picture I can see hours of work and bucks for material. Anyone who thinks they can do the same of better I say go ahead. This is really a fair price for the quality shown in the photo.

Anyone price Al. lately?????? Shit aint cheep! Those seats look good.

Thanks for all the positive response. Here are some more details that some of you have asked for.
The dimensions are 17 1/2 inches wide, 15" deep, and 25" tall. The top and side edges are rolled over a single piece of 3/16" steel rod. The rolled edge really stiffens the seat up as well as smoothing the edges.
These kinds of seats were originally mounted on rails that attached to the back of the seat and allowed it to slide vertically. In a car there's no need for that kind of adjustment, so I reinforced the bottom with 2 strips of 2" wide x 1/8" thick mild steel straps. The straps are riveted to the bottom of the seat and provide a hard point that can be drilled through for mounting. There are too many variations out there, so each builder would have to come up with they're own riser setup. In addition to providing a hard point for mounting, the strap also reinforces the set bottom so they're strong enough to be stepped on for you guys who don't have opening doors. You'd have to use common sense though, they're made out of .040 6061 aluminum so I wouldn't recommend jumping on them. I've included a slot that a seatbelt could be fed through, but the seatbelt would have to be bolted to the car, NOT to the seat.
As some of you have pointed out, there's quite a bit work in these things. What I'd like to do is build them in batches of 10 sets at a time. Contact me if you want in and when I get 10 guys comitted, I'll get started.
