Cool car, not so cool color combo. I liked it better with the tan primer. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Wow, that is a very nice one! And I like the paint as well, real bored with the fashion of primered "finished" cars (primer is for cars in the works!). Just one thing to add for RF: We want more of that kind of cars in Custom Rodder!!!

That's it. I'm becoming a magazine editor. He's got this beauty and the Jesse James built Worry flatty.

Damn! If I recall correctly he has something else too.

Only my mom calls me Robbie! Last I checked, she don't live in Yucaipa!

Sorry if you don't like the color combo--was gonna go for a flake roof and black suede bottom, but I thought that would be too risquee.

Color's work well with this car's shape and curve's.

RF

I'm planning on bringing it to Roundup next year...not only to shame McPhail, but because I'm tired of that stupid 27 minute flight from Dallas to Austin that ends up wasting two hours!

Sorry, RF. That was I that was calling you by that. I will now address you as RF as I should have. Knux. When are you going to do a spread on your bowtie? Anything in the near future?

No, it was I. I had him post the pics that I took and told him that it was your car. It's all good. What is under the hood? I never got to ask you to open up the hood. I was the one with the WCC hat on. I'm sure that logo looks familiar to you? Duhhhhh......KNUX

Worry has left the house...to pay for the house! That was probably the coolest bike I've ever owned, and it gave me a whole new respect for side-valves! Raddest thing, if you "forgot" to drop it in neutral or hold the foot clutch in, you could come up to a light, and because it had such low compression, you'd be able to hit the clutch (as it's bucking!) before it stalled!

Knux, I remember you. The Chevy's got the "venerable SBC" under the hood. Nothing special, but it's never let me down.

Robert, that car is too fantabulous for words, I love every bit of it.
I'd love to park mine next to it at the Roundup next year, but I'm afraid of showing yours up.

Say, is that a '54 front bumper on it's ass end?

When i first saw the pic in the mag,,I was like why did he paint it for? Now to see the full shots of it..I really dig the car. I personally like the color combo. I think it would have been a mistake to flake the top and rock a suede bottom...It is truly one sweet clean ass ride,,,hats off to ya holmes!!

RF,
Your car is awesome!!

When i saw the pics a while ago in tan primer, it hit a nerve for me...
Your car has been one of the biggest inspiration's for me in the build up of my own '53..

Simple, clean and very well thought out..nothing takes your attention away from the whole package..
NICE JOB!!

Tony..

Just like I can't take credit for building the '53, I can't take credit for painting it, either! I picked the top color (HoK Kandy Kobalt), and the painter, Andre Carey (the guy who built the chopped '60 Ford, "LoLiner" that we featured last year) mixed the lighter blue lower color, which is pretty amazing. Now I just gotta come up with an interior to complement...where's Mr. FatLucky?

that is one sweet ass ride. i saw it in Paso. i took pics of it at every angle. how are those shock waves(tm) working out for you? i read the tech article.

i see that your from Maywood. i grew up by Slauson and Main near the 110 fwy. i used to go to a pool hall near Atlantic and Slauson all the time.

RF. How 'bout a black and dark blue tuck n'roll or how about a style similiar to what Jesse did in his '36. That up and down roll? I saw that down at WCC and I was trippin on the interior let alone the rest of the car. I love the color he did that in. I'm thinking of doing my '53 Plymouth wagon in the color. KNUX
