Been away from the HAMB for some very LONG months. Did some searches for info, not much luck. Probably just my bad. I'm sure it's here. I just can't find it. What I'm after is which T5 and bellhousing to look for. This trans will go behind a fairly mild 350, Shifter location is an issue (the farther forward the better). Can some one help guide me by telling me to go get such and such a year trans, use this or that bellhousing, flywheel, clutch/pressureplate etc.. I don't want to hafta reinvent the wheel. You guys seem to be the collective brain trust of old cars. Thanks in advance!!
The S-10 transmission has the shifter mounted pretty far forward, but I don't think it is strong enough to hold up to a 350. The camaro's, mustangs... all had the shifter that mounted close to the tail end of the transmission. I have a S-10 transmission and the shifter measures about 12 inches back from the front of the case, maybe the tailshaft housings can be swapped with a camaro... here is a link to some t-5 info that I found

and another I think this is on swapping the tailshaft.

Here's some generic T5 info:

The S10 T5 likely won't handle a built SBC. You can, however, exchange the tailhousing & top cover with a V8 tranny to get the good shifter location.
Another option (and stronger) is the Tremec - the shifter can be had in at least three different places. Just do a google search for Tremec - should turn up plenty.
