I was wonderin'how the little get together went.
It was freakin' fun...got a little crazy though. Some of the highlights were the B-12 Carb Cleaner/cig. lighter Home-made flamethrower, and the BB gun shot to the forehead duel that two of the guys had. That kinda had to be seen to believed.
Next time you guys should try to make it over.

Damn...see once again all the good shit happens when I'm not there. Maybe I should stop going to events all together so everyone can have a good time.
We went back into Dallas Sat night to see some friends of ours we haden't seen in a while. It was fun. Went back and cleaned up, grilled burgers and braughts, then went to lower Greenville that night. Had a pretty good time. Went back to their house and played in the hot tub til about 6:00 in the morning. Sure sounds like you guys had fun. I just felt a little bumbed about not having my truck there. Denison will be a lot of fun!!!! I am going full force!

Who was that guy that did the sketch of Jasons car? That picture looked pretty cool. The ones he did of Suse's wagon were bad ass!

Here's a 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch piece of art that Bass laid down on a guys truck late in the afternoon on Saturday. Turned out great. Lots of detal for such a small thing. Actually, that round thing in the reflection above the cards is my camera lens, if that gives you an idea as to how big the picture is.
Caution, Picture is larger than actual life! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mike I forget what that guys name is that did the sketches but I have a business card from him in my car somewhere. He did some very cool work and rather quickly with tons of detail.

The belongs to Suse Harper,A buddy of mine from Kaufman TX.
He's the guy that owns the bare metal "garage sale 32' roadster" and the black chopped n' chanelled 32' P/U.

The Merc belongs to Zues. I don't think he is on the HAMB. This is his roadster also:

Make sure you let Suse(Zues?) Harper know that I'm in love with his taste in hot rods. One dude, having TWO rods that yank my crank.... I need to visit TX more http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
30Roadster, great shots, thanks for sharing. I feel like I was there.

Yeah, and the story on how he got that bare metal roadster will make your stomach turn with jealousy.
**DONOTDELETE**
10-07-2003, 01:34 PM
He's got a fleet of bitchin' crusty rods. That roadster is the real deal built in the late 40s- nothing added.

Elrod, I'm not sure of this word you used, "jealousy"?, not something thats in my vocabulary, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif BUT I would LOVE to hear the story on how he came to posses it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
This guy REALLY needs to become a HAMB member

The story I heard was that he was driving around with a house painter buddy of his. He was showing this buddy some pictures of his ride in a magazine. Something like CK Deluxe. Well, they came across a picture of a roadster in the magazine, and the painter buddy says, "Hey. I know of a house that has one of those in the garage. It's not that nice though" Well, he says, "Get 'em on the phone."
They talk to the kid on the phone and the kid says that it was his grandpa's car and it's in the garage, but it doesn't run, and it doesn't have fenders, and the paint isn't very nice.
They go over there and ask how much the lady (mom of the kid, or daughter of the car builder) needs for the car. She says, "Well, I've got a lot of bills and expenses and stuff, so I'm going to have to get $6000 for it."
And that's where it was sold. It was blue like the grill shell, but they stripped the paint off of it.
It was built back in the 40s or 50s just to run around town. It's loaded down with Eddie Meyer speed goodies, and has a cool screw motor that opens and closes the deck lid electrically.
I may have some of the story slightly wrong, but you know how the game of gossip works. But, that's the story I got.

Denise you do need to come to Texas! Jim is right, that roadster is the real deal. It really is a rare find but goes to show you that they are still out there. Elrod's version of the story is pretty much what Zues told me.

Cool story! We should all have an experience like that once in our lives. I'm happy for him.
I'll share something, the young girl (19) that works the front customer counter here at work has told me about an "old car" that her mom has that was grandpa's. She's not sure what it is, she said "A something". Now, I've been playing it real cool, she says her brother's planning on fixing it up, they're not a car family, but mom not only doesn't want it around but mom could use some extra money. We're at the point where I've asked to go look at it. It's probley not something I'd be interested in, unless it was topless http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif but I'll let you guys know if it turns out to be worth talking about. My HAMB brothers will have first shot. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

One other thing to add to the story...the grandson who didn't want it....spent his money on a FIREBIRD instead! Some people...

10-07-2003, 03:20 PM
He's probley going to be one of those guys that will watch that new program that stars Loni Anderson, that's on tonight, called The Mullets http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Him wanting the Firebird, gave Zues the opportunity to own a cool roadster. The hot rod went to someone who would really enjoy it and take care of that little piece of hot rod history. Seems to me everyone's happy. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

What were the extra parts????
And also, what is that screw motor from in the trunk that opens and closes it?
The car is totally bad ass. Even the wiring in the car is the old fabric covered wire from back in the day.
