See the damage on the Moon Dragster when it hit a BIG Iron chain at 100+mph one mile down the strip.... More pics at the album link above (no one was hurt luckily).

ahh good...i thought You overslept...well, very nice pics as usual, Mr42. What really happened to the Moonlander?
Saw it disapear beyond the horizon huff'n n' puff'n.
I talked to Shige afterwards. He was not aware of that being a 1/8 mile strip. And after 200 meters there was not marking on the strip so he went on with full throttle for 2 kilometers! A chain over the strip did smash the oilpan, the frame, the headers and one of the rear wheels. Some concrete bumps did also damage it. Thankfully Shige was not hurt.
I did take some pics (old fashioned film) on the Moon-dragster wheel standing. An impressive sight and I was real close to it!

I did no talk to Shige, but as i understand it they drove a couple of times on the Friday, and why didn't he figure out that they where running 1/8 (200Meter) then??
Anyway it's quite stupid to have a chain across the strip, even if its a mile out.
The good thing is that noone was hurt (killed).
I guess the helper that was hit by his dragster on the startpad have more pain today, didn't see that myself only heard about it...
Anyway it was a great day, and now its raining again :-(
I know that too, but that is what he said to me... (I agree about the chain).
I did see the accident with the dragster hitting a guy, I was about 10 meters from that, it was not the Moon dragster but one of the Hemi-powered dragsters (sorry, I dont know the name of its owner/driver). There was a guy walking in front of it when it jumped into gear and hit the guy, seemed ugly at first sight but I think he only got a blue leg, nothing broken or damaged as the ambulance guys didnt have to take him away (I hope Im right).

Lot of nice cars in that link you gave.
That chain drive on that blower is the first one I've seen ,looks like it
could be scary if it broke while turning some high rpms.
Any idea how long its been in use and the durability of it?

Thanks Bill,
I never saw it run, but i guess it will work ok for a while anyhow.
But i remember reading that they had trouble with chain drive back in the fifties.
A proper chainguard would help i guess.
