It would go between your starter solinoid, and "start' button or switch, the 'momentary one,not the "on' or "acc' side. Believe me it saves a lot of damage, and possibly a life!! Glenn

if you havent run any wiring yet, run a wire from the ign switch "start" terminal, to one side of the neutral saftey switch & a wire from the other side of the neutral saftey switch to the "s" or start terminal on your starter solenoid.

If you already have the ignition switch wired, you have to splice the start wire into the saftey switch.

The neutral safety switch goes in the starter circuit. Path goes from a 12V source, starter switch (often included as part of the ignition switch), through the neutral safety switch, and to the starter solenoid. Not really rocket science. By the way, Ford automatic transmissions usually have the switch attached to the transmissions, which has advantages as compared to a shifter-mounted switch.

I don't have a working neutral 'lockout' switch on my tranny, so I thought I might run the starter wire through the brake light switch, so I at least have to have the brake pedal pressed to start the motor. Might save an embarrassing moment, or some damage http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

You didn't say who made the shifter. If it's a factory shifter, it probably has 4 terminals. Two for the neutral safety and two for the back up lights. Use a test light to figure out which is which. You don't want it to only start in reverse!!
