Is E-85 considered gas. It has just become available in my area and at $2.51 gallon is considerably cheaper than race gas. It is 105 octane and would require some tuning to make it work. I think once you had the carbs set for it you couldn't run regular gas. Anyway just putting the question out there. Roy

Roy,

Good question. I'll find out NHRA's feeling on it during next weeks meeting with them. I like the idea of using it.

It takes xx amounts of BTUs to create hp .
1 gallon of gas usually contains 114,132 btu's.
A gallon of E85 has 83,263 btu's.
Going to take a lot more of the E85 to compete with gasoline.???
Just a couple thoughts????:)

I agree with Bubba. I knew the specific heat of E85 was less, but I didn't have those numbers.
