Just work AT finishing the wire harness.
If you had done a dozen of them on that same type of car you could realistically guess how long it will take, but if you rush this HOBBY then that is what turns it into a JOB instead of FUN! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

fun?

that's why we do it?

I thought it was therapy so we don't go freakin' insane...

'least it is for me when I have time to make progress but,

seems to have the oposite effect when time is limited..

seems to take forever to get the simplest things done,

like sanding the body smooth in prep for paint,

how fun is that ?

What's wrong with Olds cars? I have a couple and they are great! Keep your Fordism to your self!

Man, I actually LOVE wiring a car...making a custom harness from scratch!!!

(But shit...I'm weird! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Don't even ASK me to do bodywork or paint...but I'll wire a car any day!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

FH You are hired, I have an EZ wire kit ready to put in, you can tear it apart if you want and start from scratch. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yorg,

What are you wiring? I've been off the board for a while doing Coast Guard stuff.

Olds? Hudson? Is the Hudson running? I looked for you at the Stranger's show earlier this month, but didn't see you.

How is the front end rebuild progressing on the Olds?

I'm with you Fathack, I love wiring, well except for that laying upside down to work under the dash.

Not much "upsidedownness" involved with most older cars...especially my Chevy...plenty of places to reach through and work!!!

I also like to have my components installed and then just make harnesses to connect to them. From there, you can pretty much reach up behind the dash and hook the wires up as you go!

Best way I've found is with the car slightly elevated on a hoist or four jack stands...just lean in the doors onto the seat and your work is at a comfortable height...

(I'm old and don't move well anymore...gotta figure ways to make the job easier...putting stuff I need to get to at a convenient height REALLY helps!!)

it wouldn't be so bad if i were just installing a new harness, but i'm modifying one i originally bought for a '47 chevy truck that i'm adapting to the Hudson and doing the 6v to 12v thing at the same time and using a new headlight switch etc.etc. but i'm just about done, just gotta wire the starter.RANDY you got the day off monday? shoot on by BTW you still have Hudson spare parts you wanna unload? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif i'll be glad to take'em off your hands-george
