WOW! That's what my hair looks like NOW! Looks like you grew up with some good hot rodding influence going on, at least. Yeah, my mom used to cut our hair, too. Drag the kitchen stool into the driveway and put the baby-poop green cape on us and snip away in front of God, the neighbors, the girls we had crushes on and everything. Scarred for life!

Monkey has a really good pic of him in booger eater stage on the runningboard of his truck.

He needs to post it sometime.

All my kiddy pics are at the "Nervous Hospital.'

I'd be more concerned with folk seeing those flared pants than my hair http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I know what you're saying, kids in the UK are paying a fortune for loons with frayed edges and worn knees.

Cool pic, no wonder you've got an eye for the right look. You grew up with cool Hot Rods in the driveway.

Hey Artiki,

Man, you guys have funny slang on that side o' the pond. "loons". Ha, that cracks me up! Short for pantaloons, no doubt? For people that invented english, it's sure hard to understand some of you folks, especially that cockney jibberish. Funny stuff, tho.

Those are great pics. Did your Dad have blue tint on the glass in his truck in the seventies? I'm laffing here 'cause I had a '37 Chevy pu in the seventies and yea, it had blue glass too. Hell I even went so far as to try the 'lace' paint on it in those days. Had a small chevy in it also but not that nice injection I see on your old mans. Cheers.

Great shots Roothawg. Always god to have shots from way back in one's life. Your dad's pickup could tell quite a few stories I bet, nice looking pickup. Actually yours looks good to for a first car? Geoff aka Whodaky

Actually it's green tint. Green plexi to be exact. I wanted to find some for the Fly but blue was as close as I could get.

Still have a pair of them vintage 1978.Dam I'am getting old. hahaha. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif p.s those truck are set up pure 70 style . But its a good thing. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey, this is no 'shit, the first person I heard say 'loons' when talking about flared pants was David Crosby. Crosby, Stills and Nash were in the UK in the early '90's and a friend of mine at the time was a big CSN fan, so he went to the show in full hippy garb, and ended meeting DC outside before the show. Whilst doing the autograph and posing for photos thing, he saw my mates pants and said "Hey dude, great loons". http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I thought all you guys said 'loons' http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I'm just trying to fit in around here, you know.....

And don't get me started on the 'cockney' thing. No one but their Ma can understand them..... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey Root, saw this post and went back in time,to a couple of cars, that were in this part of the country. The tinted windows reminds me of a car, that I always thought was a Willys coupe,as a kid,but when I got old enough to know better, turned out to be a 37 dodge coupe, with a fiberglass willys one piece flip front end adapted. The car was a very bright green, with green plexiglass windows, an old drag car, that was way high in the front, with a hemi, very cool car,its still around, but bad shape, missing hemi, and not for sale,to bad,it would be an ideal, hamb drags car.The other car was a 57 chevy two door post car, candy rootbeer,in color, with lace panels, painted on the hood, trunk, and sides of the car,oh was that cool or what! Love the pics, thanks for the blast from the past.

you need to post a picture of your dad's truck as it is today. how many years has he had it?

Roothawg

My grandpa bought it new. He owned a produce company, they hauled eggs etc all over the state of Oklahoma during the depression. The truck has logged over a million miles on it. It to date has had 12 factory flatheads(new) 5 Fred Jones rebuilts and 3 SBC's. I'll see if I can find a pic of the 2 together.

Takes me back to my very first ride in a hot rod. My older cousin had a '36 pickup, red w/black fenders, 283, muncie, stock height with chrome tru-spokes.

He street raced a 'vette with me riding shotgun. I was seven, and that made one hell of a lasting impression. Someday I'll get a scanner so I can post some pics of that truck. I have one of it in '59 Chrysler green with slotted mags. Pure seventies.
