well i just figured i would throw some pictures up here of what i've been working on for the last few months. this started as a $350 29 sedan body, it was stored on its roof so it only had major rust above the belt line so i decided what the hell i'll do something a little different with it. ended up losing its top and getting shortened about 26 inches. it's kinda loke a big modified only the gas tank is inside the body instead of behind and on top of the frame. it's got a fresh rebuilt 59 pontiac 389 out of a 55 cheiftain drag car i used to have, in the cheiftain with bias plys it ran in the low 12's and would burn the tires for about an 1/8 mile, so it should be pretty fun in a car that weighs half as much.
oh before every one starts bitching about it being to low the body isn't sitting on the rubber mounts yet and those slicks in back are only 26.5 inches tall and i'm going to run 30 inch tires once i find some rims. also the front suicide perch is adjustable 5 inches up and down and right now it's set at 1 inch above it's lowest point.
next week i'm tearing it down and body work and frame finished and then i'm gonna try my first paint job. so hopefully it'll be on the road in a month or so.
anyways hope you all enjoy the pics

Man, if you can imagine it...somewhere on the HAMB someone is building one. I always wondered what an A sedan would look like with the top removed.

Can you post some pics of the front and rear suspension ?
The adjustable spring perch sounds interesting.

Nice job all around. Really cool looking ride even if you do raise it up some!
Who's doing all the tin work?
Post some more pictures please.

Is the hood aluminum? Consider leaving it bare and painting the body gray or silver.

bad pic of front spring perch. you really have to see it from behind to see what's going on. bassicly there's five bolts that hold the front part of the perch to the back part. the back part has a grid of holes drilled in it and you can adjust the ride height by moving the perch up and down, and yes the axle does stay at 7 degrees throughout all the positions. the idea came off the larsen and cummins model t lakester. i figure if it can hold up to 200plus mph runs at the lakes it should hold up okay in this thing. oh i still have to shorten the u-bolts.

pic of rear suspension four link with a spring. to answer the other guestions, leadsled all metal work is by me this is going to be the first car i've done everything on, frame, body, suspension, engine rebuild etc, actually i am kinda proud to say i haven't bought a single pre made bracket for this thing everythings been hand made in the garage.
haring that hood is steel but the bubbles are aluminum. plans as of now are to polish the bubbles and paint the car pontiac mettalic blue with off white old style scallops and red pinstripes. also the hood is one piece with the grill shell another reason that ones steal but i do have plans to make a track nose and aluminum hood.

I don't like it, well I could learn to like it.

I like a lot of your details. That roll bar tied into the rear horns outta stiffen things up nicely and help the handling.

great engineering, I like the spring perch mount. I will be doing that to mine for sure, You would have to make for extra ajustment in the cowl steering rod right?

sorry it took so long to respond, had some computer problems. anyways papasmurf the streering is adjusted through the drag link. it has chromoly rod ends and from the car sitting at its lowest point to sitting as high as the front perch will go the drag link only has to be lengthened about half an inch total, so i'm hoping i can get away with a guarter inch adjustment at each end. oh and thanks again for the compliments.
