I just wanted to give a heads up to those that went last year, and those that missed it.

On Aug. 7th and 8th, there will be another old time drags..

A buddy got a flyer dropped in his coupe when we were in Syracuse for the Nats..
It basically read

South Bulter Drags and Nostalgia Weekender:
-Drags
-Car show
-Swap meet
-Bands
-Camping
-Food

Right now, our plans our to go sat early afternoon, camp out overnight and stay for sunday. Maybe earlier on sat, but i gotta work in the morning so i'll have to see.

From what he read me on the flyer, it *sounds* like it's gonna be like the first one.
And the first one was F*#KING KICKASS!

Now, how many of you guy's are up for some old time heads up racing??????

I'm in http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You have to put at least 2 of the Top Secret Code Words in the subject line,
if you want it to stay on the first page. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Where is this place, relative to Syracuse ?

Damn!!
I forgot to use the Top Secret code words! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Syracuse is south-east of the track..

South Butler is about one hour's drive east of Rochester out Rt. 104 and south about 5 miles on Rt. 89.

Hey PakRat32,

Not sure yet if I'm going this year. It was a blast last year, but last year my buddy Torr was setting it all up. As far as I know this year's event is being put on by a different group. Last year was great because it was so low-key and you could run as many times as you wanted and most of the cars were hot rods. I'm betting this year a lot more muscle cars and even new cars like those to late model pickups from last year will be there. This of course is all my own conjecture and I could be wrong. I just wonder why they're going on with this event without the guys who thought it up and made the plans and promoted the hell out of it. I'm guessing dollar signs. Please let me know if you have any other details about this year's event. I could be totally wrong about it.

Like the song says Flash, "Money changes everything"
The family that owns the track didn't like being told that their buddys couldn't run their 4x4's.
I went to a race there this year. There were 4x4's and muscle cars running. Even a couple of ricers.
The guys with the Mustangs were funny as hell. They came with slicks and open headers, and couldn't drive or shift! hehe
You can still run as many times as you want.
I say we all get togehter and take the place over from the cowboys.
BTW, is it true what Germ says?
That Torr sounds like Jerry Lee Lewis after taking a shot of helium?
I didn't make it on Saturday last year. Had to ask. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'd say he sounds more like Tom Waits on speed.

It certainly would be cool if enough hot rods showed up. I know car guys should all get along, but I'm a narrow-minded prick. I get bored watching cookie-cutter Camaros and Mustangs, and even worse late-model bone stock losers race. Sounds like a good plan to spread the word and out-number those guys with some real kick-ass old rods.

Your not the only one...i feel the same way.

I was apprehensive about the whole thing at first, thats why i havn't gone to any of the other one's they put on this year.
I'm *hoping* that what the flyer said is true, being a "Nostalgia Weekender" and all.
Although you may be right.
I'm sure there will be some of the 'others' there, but i was hoping that if we could get enough of us there, we'd make it what it should be.

I knew it wasn't put on by Torr this year, and that sucks big time! Especially because in my eye's, when a guy who really loves the traditional 'ways' puts forth the effort to pull something like this off, it has more meening to it..
It's not about the almighty dollor, it's about getting back to the roots of hot rods..and having fun.

Unfortunately, the dollor always gets involved.

Enough of the polotics http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif, if you guy's were able to come out, GREAT!!
If not, i understand completely..
As far as anyone else......lets make our presence felt..

Tony.

I wanted to go so bad last year but my house sold and I had to move out that weekend. This year I am go to make it if I can get away from here working screws everything up. Is there any place to stay near there?

Tony
07-24-2004, 12:09 AM
Now that i don't know..
There isn't much around there at all, and i didn't do a lot of looking when we went last year..
We're just going to throw up some tents and camp.

Cheep and easy.

I think the nearest place you'll find a room is Fulton, about 1/2 hour away.
Lots of Amish farms around there. Maybe they'll let you sleep in the barn? hehe
If I could make it Saturday I'd give ya the extra bed in the Hotrod Hotel, but I won't be there until Sunday.
