Sorry for the stupid question, but I've never done it before-

On one side of my shoebox Ford the rocker was so rusted it practically fell off, but on the other side the floor and possibly even the inner rocker appear to be pretty solid. Do I just have to remove the spot welds on the upper (where it meets the floor) and lower (where it meets inner rocker) lip in order to remove the outer rockers? I just want to make sure I don't damage the rear quarter or inner quarter or damage the lip that the new rocker will attach to when I remove the old one.

You're on the right track. I don't know the specifics for that car, but there is usually some brazing and/or welds at both the front and rear of the rocker.

The most important thing is to take your time. If something is hanging, find out what it is. Don't just snatch at until it comes free.

get the new part before you start cutting or drilling out any spot welds. most aftermarket panels are missing most of the rusted out parts that you need.

Actually, this is a parts car and I'm trying to cut out sections of the floor to use in my other shoebox. I'll have to replace the outer rockers, but mostly I just want to preserve as much of the good metal from the parts car as possible.
