Heading thru Auburn Ind. Sat/Sun the weekend before Louisville to see the Auburn ,Cord Deussy Museum. What else is there to see there or between there and Louisville on Monday? Probably get there Sat afternoon (12 hour ride from here going west on 90) and we have to check in, in Louisville Monday evening. Doesn't have to be car related - after all this is Sue's vacation before the Nats http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

i once fell in love with a girl that lives in auburn.
anyways..auburn is small and doesnt have much to do.but you can go to ft wayne,or if you are down for it,drive north up to the 80/90 and go west for about an hour and check out the studebaker museum in south bend studdy musem (http://www.studebakermuseum.org/) also on your way up to the 80/90 stop at the butt hut if you need smokes,or up in smoke if you need smokes..great smoke shops i miss stopping at.

I'm from Ft. Wayne....maybe because I spent most of my life there I don't think theres much to do there....LOL
There's a good mall not too far off the highway, if your wife is into shopping. Some really good restaurants, if you want me to recommend some I can. You'll be going right through there on your way south. There's a corvette museum there now...I think it might be a guys private collection with some others, I know there's money involved...thats right off 69 too. And yeah, as for Auburn - it's small. The only reason theres anything going on there is ACD. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you are coming through Indy check out the Indy 500 Museum at 16th St. and Georgetown Road.

Our club just went up there last fall. There 4 or 5 museums in the Auburn area. One has a lot of Carl Caspers stuff(pretty interesting). There is also a military museum. It doesn't sound very good but it will surprise you. They bought out some museum in Europe. Lots WWII motorcycles oddball military vihicles. I recommend it. We spent a day and only got throught two. If you are a veteran it is real cheap. There is a new James Dean Museum at the Gas City exit on I69, if you like that kind of stuff. If you have never been to the Indy 500 museum, it is well worth going to. Maybe some of the Indy guys could show you Gasolone Alley(the street). At T&T Body Shop on rt. 50 in Brownstown there is a party on Tuesday evening for Nats people. Then there is Steve's 32 Ford museum in Anderson (not much there, but it's real cheap). Ha Ha Ha

They have the new James Dean Museum in Gas City....south of Fort Wayne off of I-69. The owner is a fanatic and it's really nice.

Dennis:I was at the A-C-D Museum a couple weeks ago and in the lobby they had a 7/10ths scale replica of a P-51 Mustang powered by a SBC!Ya gotta check it out!
BTW we're about 40 miles north of I-80/90 off the Maumee exit.Give me a shout if you have time to stop for a cup of coffee;I could meet you there.
Are you going to the All-Timers Gearhead Gathering on the 23 of August in Haverhill? We're supposed to be out for that(I passed on the Ty-Rods this year)and possibly a panel jam in New Jersey around Labor Day.LMK

Ray,
Have no idea what our final plans are yet - that's why Sue and I like traveling alone, we like to be free to do/go where/when we want. Last year we got in the truck to leave for the NAts and looked at each other and said "Which way are we going?' Well it was about three in the afternoon so we went west on 90 instead of 84/81/80/71/270 etc. to avoid Hartford. We'll keep your offer in mind as it gets closer.
