Crystal Lake, Il. I visited one of the better cruise nights very near to me recently and thought I would post a few of the cars that would make it on this board.

First off is this super clean '53 chevy. The car was very well detailed and was clean. It featured built straight 6 with twin carbs and split exhaust.

I wish I could of got better pics of it but, the young owner just couldn't stop cleaning, waxing, and detailing long enough for me to get more. Oh,well! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Next we have a real nice '61 Chevy. This exemplifies Midwest 60's style. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Holy Molley, another Straight Axled ride! This '56 is very well detailed and features alot of chrome. Tilt front end and for sale. I'm pretty sure this is going for $17,000. If ya bought it the first thing that's got to go are the Centerlines. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Now guys, check out the axle. Yep, it's a square tube axle with a interesting steering twist! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Here's a '32 that's a regular. You may have seen it at the '03 Pile Up. The guy has been back dating this car for a while now. He's been trying for the "Trad" look and it's been successful except for the '80's velour interior and etched glass. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks Joel

What are the cruise nights Crystal Lake...? (Nice area!)

It's only 70 miles from where I live and I don't have to drive through Chicago insanity... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif!

I've been to the Cruise night in Crystal Lake. The night I went there were a large amount of cars of all types. Spent quite a few hours wandering around to see them all. The city of Crystal Lake even lists the cruise night on their web page.

Wingnutz: Cruise night is Thursday for Crystal Lake.

You can "diddybop" down Rte 31 south to Rte 14 and go north to Main st. turn right, go a mile east to the Old Downtown. That's where it happens.

Or West on Rte 47 to Rte 14 and head south thru the shopping district of CRL to Main st. and turn left to the old Downtown.

It's a beautiful area. Check it out sometime.

Thanks for posting the pictures , cool shots. The maroon coupe was up for sale just a while ago.. It was the butt ugly.. Wood running boards pink in color with thick blue lines everywere. He was asking 10k or best for a ugly driver. Joel did you hear the Adurn roadster running? WOW!!! Franks car sound like no other, and he's not afraid to beat the shit out of her.. Built it for Bonnie and heard he toss the first motor on the first run... Looks like he had a spare http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gifThat baby rocks!!!

Hey Continetal John, you know that guy! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Those pics of the B-ville Roadster are from last year.

That car rocked. He uncorked the headers and Man, what sweet sounds! He reved it a little while and the Cops made him shut it down. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

The owner was cool and had balls. He said he was taking it ot "the flats" the following week. I always wondered how he did with it.

I hope I get to see and hear it again.

That ARDUN powered roadster is sweet. It was next to the N49 Pits in Bonneville the first year we were there, and they tossed a rod in the mill the first day testing it in the pits. They never even got it out on the flats, just put it back in the trailer.

i just wanted to be the third Czar in a row to post! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

looks like a cool cruise. I didn't even know about it, but would like to check it out. WHat time? It's hard for me to make any of the weekday cruises since they start so damn early and I work downtown.

I believe HAMBer Leadfoot (Mike) lives in Crystal Lake.

Czars, Mike, Joe & Chad, Woodfire is on my "to do " list for this Saturday. I hope to see youse guys. It would be great.

I was looking forward to checking out both Crystal Lake and Barrington tonight. Both 10 minutes away North and South. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Doesn't look too good. It's raining pistons and spark plugs here in Cary, Northwest of the Western Frontier right now. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Maybe next Thursday. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Oh, BTW: Barrington is a new Cruise this year and it looks like it siphoned a few cars from Crystal Lake. Still 300 to 400 cars a night ain't bad. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
